The Mercedes 500E. launched in 1991 and continued until 1994. was a high performance version of the W124 Mercedes. produced between 1986 and 1995. It was spectacularly built and well known for its ability to handle large amounts of power. The 500E was collaboration between Mercedes and Porsche. Rumored to be using secrets from its cancelled 989 sports sedan project. it stuffed many of the mechanicals from the 500SL roadster into the W124. Each 500 E was hand-built by Porsche. being transported back and forth between the Mercedes plant and Porsche's Rossle-Bau plant in Zuffenhausen. Germany during assembly. taking a full 18 days to complete each model. The Mercedes 500E is a rare car indeed. especially in the United States. Between 1991 and 1995 about 10. 00 were built. but only 1. 05 of those came to the United States.
