Description for Mercedes-Benz 400-Series 1989

1989

Mercedes Benz
420 SEL Sedan

VIN: WDBCA35EXFA449245

There's an old saying in the collector car world: Any vehicle can be restored, iven enough time and money, ut it can only be factory-original once! This sedan sold new in Scottsdale but has remained the past two decades here in Washington with careful folks that kept and maintained the car pretty much the way it drove off the showroom floor back in January 1989. We'll be sure to pass along the original owner's manual, ervice/warranty booklet and assorted other factory guides in the original plastic sleeve when the Benz ships out. If you've followed my Ebay vehicle auctions over the past decade you've noticed we get a fair number of these great vintage boulevard cruisers on a regular basis. After spending just a few minutes behind the wheel I was sold on this one as a daily driver or a perfect road trip vehicle. Please take a few moments to look over the posted photos (all were taken on 12/5/15). What you see is not the result of a detail, his car came to us in this clean, uperior condition! I find absolutely no evidence of any body rust.

Please feel free to email, ext or call me with any questions. My direct phone number is 206/914-1173and my name is Mark Thompson. You're welcome and encouraged to stop by my Auburn, A warehouse to inspect the car and take it out on the road.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Ever driven one of these S-Class Mercedes with the powerful, ullet-proof 4.2 liter V8 engine? What a treat! Smooth is the word for sure. Smooth, owerful acceleration. Smooth handling in the curves or on the highway, oo. Comfort, tyle, nd versatility all in one gorgeous ride. I've always considered the W126 cars constructed through the early 90's as the last hand-built, ruly high-quality Mercedes and have heard others say the same thing! Take a look at the photos and I'm sure you'll agree with me. Again, hat you see is the result of a wash and vacuum only. "Time capsule"really is a great way to describe this Benz. It's obviously been allowed to spend a majority of its life garaged because the overall condition is truly better than most any other 26-year-old daily driver you're likely to encounter. Rust? Please, his Mercedes HATES body rust and I haven't found any here to worry about. Climb over, nder and around this sedan, know you'll come up smiling!! As a respected online seller with several hundred satisfied Ebay vehicle customers, want you to bid with confidence knowing that this is a great car AND that it is being properly represented.

CONDITION:

In brief, b>this is a clean, ell-cared-for, moke-free Mercedes. I take pride in the vehicles we sell, eeling that you should know as much about them as possible before bidding. Accordingly, ere's a list of the good and also small things possibly to sort out: Hop in, ire up the powerful engine and it starts immediately! The automatic transmission shifts crisply through all gears, ust as it should. I feel the car idles, uns and drives as intended — immediate strong, teady oil pressure, good battery and properly functioning charging system. When warm, he engine temperature is maintained at the 80 degree mark on the dash gauge, o matter whether it's been idling in traffic or plying the freeway for hours. There is NO excessive tailpipe smoke or blow-by. I've driven the SEL daily, ruised at 70 MPH on a six hour trip to and from Portland, regon and also used it for my 30 mile round trip work commute putting on a total of almost 500 miles the past three weeks.

The factory color mediumblue metallic paint is in exceptionally nice condition having had a good quality respray sometime in the recent past. It holds quite a shine! I find NO fading clearcoat, ust spots or other body/paint issues. The fenders, oors, ear quarters and floor pans are all solid. All four factory wheels are straight and true. They're wrapped with 205/65R15 Touring Radials each with at least 50-75% remaining tread.

Take another good look at my interior photos as they give a very accurate view of condition. The gray leather upholstery is original with no visible shrinkage, ears or worn-throughspots as you'll often find on these cars. Hop in and feel comfortable sitting on the seats for hours. All carpets are clean, riginaland covered with factory color-matched floor mats. The dash gauges are as bright and true as the day the car left the factory. The push button heater and fan system works fine though the A/C doesn't blow cold and will need attention (most likely recharging). It's quite rare to find a vintage Benz with a still-working factory stereo. This one's been replaced with a modern AM-FM/CD model. The extra-large sunroof can be hand-cranked but does not presently power open. There aren't any visible stains or evidence of leaks anywhere on the spotless headliner. About the only other issues left to be sorted through are: the dash clock is intermitant and the antennae only powers up & down part way (not an issue for good FM reception). There's a rock chip crack on the upper passenger's side of the windshield. That's about it. I will include a new center console woodgrain locking slider for the next caretaker to install and a factory jack will bemounted in thetrunk holder. Please don't be upset if I've missed a minor flaw or a small amount ends up needing to be spent fixing a problem I'm unaware of. No used car is ever perfect! Having said that, would not hesitate to drive this Mercedes long distance immediately.

I'm always very happy to work with any shipper you choose, ut you're also welcome to do what many of my previous buyers from as far away as Alaska, rizona, he Midwest, anada, lorida, ew York and even the Mexican Baja have done — fly in here to Seattle (I'll pick you up at Sea-Tac International just a few miles away) and then start a summer road trip home!

Please check the photos over closely and call me with any questions BEFORE you place a bid! Because of the amount of money involved with a vehicle purchase, e reserve the right to cancel your bid if you have any negative feedback. I also ask that potential bidders with a feedback rating of ten or fewer transactions on Ebay contact me before placing a bid. Finally, e reserve the right to end the auction early if the Mercedes is no longer for sale or an acceptable offer has been agreed to before the end of the auction period. Please feel free
to contact me directly thru Ebay's system or, s outlined above, all or text me at 206/914-1173 anytime. My name is MARK THOMPSON.

A Few Additional Terms and Conditions:

A nonrefundable $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction's conclusion. The balance is due by cash (in person) or certified funds within seven business days unless prior arrangements have been made with me. We require all potential bidders to have a PayPal account in place (though you're not required to use it for this transaction) as this tends to weed-out the non-serious folks. I can accept PAYPAL, ut if you plan to pay any more than the deposit through them I'll first need to invoice you and ask that you cover the 3.5% fee charged. Please remember you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract! You're not bidding to hold or then come inspect and test-drive the vehicle later -- You're more than welcome to do this before the auction ends.

If you decide to have theMercedes transported home, here are scores of companies to choose from. I ship vehicles regularly and suggest that you get a transport bid from Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS). They're EBay's preferred transporter and will give you a fair quote. Call my designated rep, b>Brad Simon, t (908)290-1575 and give him my affiliate number (2362642) so he can pull up all our information for a station-to-station or even door-to-door quote.

As an alternative, ou might also get bids from the U-Ship.com website. You'll be able to choose a transport broker from multiple offers. The zip code for pick-up would be 98002 (Auburn, ashington). The shipping of the vehicle and company chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER.

Thecar can be stored free of charge at my location for up to two weeks after the auction ends assuming full payment has been received. After that period storage is $20 per day. Though I have NO doubts about the vehicle's road-worthiness or ability to easily manage a long-distance road trip, t is being sold "as-is, here-is" . All information described above is based on the observed condition when thelisting was placed. I've done my best to describe the car as honestly as possible and encourage bidders to contact me with questions.
