Description for Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 1980
Up for sale I have a 1980 Mercedes Benz 280 SLC Coupe - DOHC Inline 6 - 4 speed manual transmission - Euro Import Only - SunroofThe car is really in great condition for it's age. It runs and drives great. Cruises at 70mph on the highway like a benz should. The 4 speed is a rare option and shifts smooth - The car actually has a lot of power. Mechanically there is really nothing that the car needs. It has some quirks as old cars do but all very minor. New alternator. Idles smooth runs cool it really runs nicely. Value adjusted in last 100 miles with new value cover gasket. New clutch slave.
The blue leather interior of the car is exceptionally nice - No rips or tears in the leather seats. The headliner is in great condition - one minor 1/2 inch tear on the drivers seat. The carpet has some fading in places and is a little worn under the drivers mat but presentable. The passenger side carpet is nice. True mercedes floor mats. The dash has a few cracks in the middle most common area and the wood has some peeling but all is presentable for an original driver car. The doors close really nice and solid.
The exterior paint shines nicely and looks good from 10 feet. The paint does have some blemishes, scratches and a little fading in a few areas but nothing alarming or unexpected for a driver car of it's age. I would give the paint a 6 driver quality paint. The car looks amazing in my opinion. The car has a little rust in the common places - the worst is on the driver pan where it meets the rocker which I think could easily be patched. Has a little on the toe of the passenger pan.
Everything the dash works, all lights, turn signals, power windows, sunroof, heat. The A/C needs to be charged and checked but does blow cold air. odometer reads 197k and going up b/c I drive it everyday. odometer works intermittently.
The car has the original Aluminum hood in great shape. The wheels are aftermarket with Cooper tires in excellent condition.
If you are looking for a Rare classic Mercedes Coupe in great running and driving condition this one is worth checking out. $4400 will trade for a Volkswagen Beetle 1966 or older in running and driving condition. The low retail value of this car is 12K on NADA.
I have a Georgia title in my name.
