Description for Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 1972
1972 Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 4.5 W109: Timeless LuxuryOffered is a 2 owner 1972 300SEL 4.5 W109 in a lovely tobacco brown finish with a brand new leather interior. This rare car is both a beautiful classic and a very capable driver that moves with confidence in modern traffic. Sitting on air with adjustable ride height the car provides a comfortable ride that feels far more luxurious than its W108 brother. The engine runs nicely and the car is happy to drive long distances with newer tires and strong brakes.
Equipped with original radio and CB radio installed by original owner
The vehicle, aside from the new leather is very original, with its original Becker Europa radio original carpets (covered with beautiful sisal/coconut mats). Includes all of its original documentation as well as a good amount of receipts. In the trunk the car has all of its original tools in the brown 300 W109 tool roll.
The leather throughout the interior is refreshed and looks amazing
The car was originally purchased by Benzel Busch in New Jersey and then spent its life in Palm Springs Florida. The car was purchased from the estate of its original owner about 10 years ago and has spent the last 10 years in Westport Connecticut. The vehicle bears this provenance out, wearing its original Benzel Busch badge on the rear, a badge with the name of the original owner on the dash, Palm Springs Country Club decal and many years of Westport CT train parking passes. These all can be removed by the new owner but do add some charm to the vehicle on its own.
There are some things that need attention. There is clear coat lifting as a little rust in the front fenders. A proper full paint job is recommended. In spite of the superficial rust here’s no severe chassis damage. On the interior the wood needs to be refinished unless you like the patina. There’s also some damage with the door’s caps (at the base of the window) There’s also a crack in the dash. Lastly, it should be noted that the odometer does not function. It is believed there is about 90,000 miles on the car. While the miles are low a full tune up and injector cleaning is also recommended since the Mercedes has not been driven terribly much over the last few years.
Overall this car is ready to be a great addition to your collection. Its an affordable car that is assuredly to increase in value while giving you years of driving pleasure. Its exceedingly tasteful and is the most luxurious vehicle available from Mercedes-Benz in 1972.
