Description for Mercedes-Benz 280SE 1970
This 1970 280 SE low-grille coupe is an original survivor car that has been well maintained and garage kept. The car is near Pasadena California. The car had one owner from 1970 until 2015 (45 years) and is an original 6-cylinder engine, matching numbers car. The paint is a re-spray and is about 10 years old and is in the original color of Light Ivory (DB 670) and the interior is chocolate brown. The chocolate brown leather is original and shows only minor wear and it is my personal favorite color interior in these cars. The car has power windows and factory air by BEHR. Everything works including gauges, windows and even the clock and the original Becker radio. The car was not driven much for many years so I recently changed ALL fluids including the fuel tank, rear end, transmission, radiator, brake cylinders/lines and engine oil. The fluids were in remarkably good condition.
The car is not perfect but is a very nice example of an original car. Why not start your restoration with a car that has all the components in their original condition? The brown leather is in such beautiful condition it might be a shame to replace it. The car has all the options that you would want (with the exception of the floor shift perhaps). The bright-work is in good condition; however the rear bumper has a couple of small dents. There are several small chips and scratches in the paint around the car. The wood trim is in good shape but the pieces along the windscreen have lost their varnish. The car is beautiful as it stands and could be driven and enjoyed for many years rather than being restored. The car runs and drives very well. I have all books, owner manuals, factory data cards and tool kit. 45 year old floor mats included. This car is a wonderful example of a well cared for Mercedes.
