Description for Mercedes-Benz 280SE COUPE 1970
1970 Mercedes Benz 280SE W111 Low Grille "Heckflosse" Fintail CoupeWhite with Dark Red Exterior over Red InteriorGorgeous Color Combination-Never Before Seen and Entirely Correct Original from Factory1 of 613 Low Grill Coupes produced in 1970 -the first year of the extremelydesirableLow Grill design!
Hello we are pleased to offer this 1974 Mercedes Benz W111 low grill coupe with the in-line six cylinder engine. Very few were made of this variant, less than that of the larger 3.5 Liter V8 in fact, and this is one of the very last built as it features a factory floor shift automatic transmission factory fully equipped with A/C (currently removed Kolmister) and power sunroof all finished in a stunning color combination of White (DB050) with Dark Red (DB542) roof and wheel caps over a newly restored Red interior with brand new headliner, refinished wood and carpets all to concours standards. Over $35k in receipts for this vehicle, with nearly $16k in work completed just this month by a prestigious restoration shop outside of Philadelphia.
Straight and Rust Free. A European car imported to the US and residingmuch of its earlier life in California, and than onto Florida where wepurchased the car from a dedicated long term owner. This car has been in personal private collection for over 2 years now and have decided to put it available for sale.
Finding a 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SE Low Grill Sunroof Coupe with a floor-shift transmission and finished in factory correct original two-tone White and Dark Red (DB 542) over an entirely restored Red leather interior. Only 613 W111 “Heckflosse” (fintail) coupes were produced with the tried and true 2.8L inline six cylinder engine and this is believed to be the only one that left the factory in this unique two-tone livery. It’s arguably as rare as W111 coupes come! The steel wheels with Rechromed and repainted Benz caps as delivered from factory give a wonderful accent to the stunning combination and help meld the beautiful color combination together.

While not a concours show car, this rare example has always been lovingly cared for and could serve reliably for another 45 years as a very presentable weekend driver or as an excellent original base for a continued total restoration. This Car is a Local Car show winner and Cars and Coffee crowd pleaser. Considering their rarity and the astronomical prices that their Cabriolet and 3.5 Coupe brethren fetch, W111 Coupes have long been undervalued in most classic car enthusiasts’ minds. Finding “Low Grill” W111s is hard enough as it is, but finding a rare European version, with unique correct colors and desirable options is perhaps an irreplaceable opportunity.
