Description for Mercedes-Benz G-Class 1985
Please read this entire ad, and view the pictures and videos carefully before asking questions or bidding. I haddifficultyposting youtube links in the original listing, but was able to post them in aresponse to a question below. You will have to copy and paste them into your browser. This truck is great and I regret to sell it, but I've got too many older vehicles and not enough time to give them all the attention they should receive. I have owned this 280GE for a couple of years now, and have had a lot of work done to it. Shortly after I purchased it, it needed a head gasket, so at that time the engine was taken apart and little things that needed replacing were taken care of. I had a few members in the front end changed out, an alignment, rebuilt the windshield wiper motor. The 4wd high and low work as they should. This has been AMAZING in the snow. The previous owner had it set up for expedition driving in VT, so I don't know much about the suspension, but I'd be happy to take extra pictures for seriously interested parties to help answer any questions. I will include a picture of it in use during its previous life. The tires are pretty aggressive, and I don't question its ability to climb over most things; however, I have only used it as a people hauler as you can see from the child seats. We actually had 9 people in the truck on several occasions, and it's a fun ride! There are child locks on the doors, and sturdy seat belts all in good condition (even 4 for the rear jumpseats). There is a small trans fluid leak that I believe is from the pan, so it is possible that the bolts need to be tightened or it might need a gasket. There is a CB radio I believe works but have not tested. The radio works, but there is a pop out touch screen built into it that no longer works. I just spent over $1000 on brake line and other misc. work including the heat blower. It has very good heat, but no working AC (although all components other than a belt appear to be present). I think I did buy a belt which would go with the new owner, but never had it installed. The frame is in excellent condition with no rust, however there is rust on the body in several places pictured (mainly around the taillights and behind the rear door. There are also some dents and scratches pictured that are commensurate with a vehicle of this age that has been used on wooded trails. As can be seen in the video, it starts right up and runs, but in an effort for full disclosure it does run rough at low speeds sometimes, especially in cold weather. It's fuel injected, but what my mechanic told me is that it has some sort of a device that acts like a carburetor. Perhaps that needs to be cleaned. I also have not done a full tune-up, so new plugs might solve the issue. I have just run out of time to figure it out and need to make room at my house. Comes with a very hard to find roof rack, and can take care of all of your hauling needs. 33 inch BF Goodrich tires with plenty of tread left. The spare wheel on the back is banged up, but holds air fine. 9000lbs winch with remote control will help you pull your friends out of a mess, as I doubt you will ever be stuck in this! Functional rubber mats throughout (one removed to show the floorboard). True milage unknown because odometer only has 5 digits. My best guess based on previous owner's listing and condition is 110000. I have receipts totaling over 20K I can provide.
Please don't bid without having all needed funds/and or permission to follow through with a purchase. I've bought and sold cars on eBay previously and have always had good transactions. I'd like to keep that up and have tried to be as honest as possible. Please view my feedback and bid with confidence. I am open to inspections in person or at the buyers expense BEFORE the auction ends. Bidders with low-feedback (less than 10) please contact me prior to bidding. If a deposit is not made within 24 hours to show the intent to complete the purchase, then the transaction will be cancelled. I will work with a shipper of the buyer's choosing (and expense) once funds are cleared. I can hold the vehicle for a couple of weeks once payment has been made while shipping arrangements are made, but please check out shipping costs before bidding.
Sold with a CT Bill of Sale (CT title not required for older vehicles). VIN 46023317038193mpv
