He passed away in 2006. The car was passed down to his son. who spent over $8. 00 cosmetically and mechanically freshening up the car. The car runs as it should. starts first time every time. Shifts smoothly. sounds good. and pulls strong. Includes the original books. Data Card. and many receipts for work that has been done. The spare tire and tool kit are also included. This 1969 W111 280SE Coupe in Grey White is a great looking. wonderful driving car. It is a testament to the hand built German engineered automobile. Very little rust. some very minor surface rust under the car. and one spot in the trunk near the left rear tire. (see picture) The car was re-sprayed in the original Grey White and looks great. except a few small scratches. The interior is good looking and comfortable. The Light Red upholstery has no tears. rips or splits. This is a 46 year old classic in great condition that can be enjoyed exactly as it is. Many mechanical parts have been replaced to ensure the soundness of this classic. The radio was replaced by an Alpine CD witch lights up but does not play sound. The odometer shows 17. 36 but actual is unknown. As with any 46 year old car there is always more that can be done. but you can count on this to be a solid reliable automobile as it is now.
