Up for NO RESERVE AUCTION is this very nice 1982 Mercedes 240D. Sold new on 11/27/1981 at Autohaus Brugger in Redwood City California. it has remained in sunny dry California since new. The original owner’s manual. build sheet. and metal ID tag come with the car. Only 170k miles. that’s less than 5200 miles a year. If you have ever owned a Mercedes diesel then you know what wonderful automobiles they are. They will literally run for a million miles if you take care of them. Mercedes Diesels are known worldwide for their reliability. These are truly the last of the overbuilt Mercedes. This car has obviously had very good care over the years. The body is very straight except for one very shallow dent on the passenger side. see picture. The interior is very nice; the seats look like new and have plenty of padding; the dash has just begun to crack a little. The sunroof is inoperable; I haven’t tried to figure out why. The original glass is very clear. no clouding. The original Becker Europa stereo still works! The paint looks good with a few normal blemishes for its age; the driver’s side passenger door and rear quarter panel are a slightly lighter shade than the rest of the car. barely noticeable except in the bright sunshine. No rust ever. anywhere! Runs and drives great. I was told by the previous owner that the motor had been rebuilt and I feel that it has because it has a lot of power. Going freeway speeds is not a problem! Brakes were new about 2000 miles ago. If you have ever wanted to own a nice Mercedes Diesel. but don’t want to nurse a worn out car. then this car’s for you! Mileage of 170k is nothing for these cars. I have seen them with over 500k miles still running strong. I have owned and driven these cars for over thirty years now. this is a very good car.
