We bought this wonderful car from a dealer a year ago and have throughly enjoyed it. It was imported in 1987 from Germany so the VIN is european and does not come up on US information since the 500SL was not imported until later. The VIN is WDB1070461A010441. After importing it it was apparently modified adding a Loramar body kit with molding and wing and the front ornament was removed. Then it was painted wonderful genuine candy apple red. The interior was replaced with white leather and red piping. The wheels were replaced with AMG mags and then it uses Zrated tires. I have upgraded the stereo which was quite out of date and weak with a new very nice one. this car has been loved with Amsoil and always garaged with no inclement weather driving so although older it is very nice. Both tops are in nice condition and everything works as it should. I would be comfortable driving this car anywhere. It has been maintained by a german repair place here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and has a new timing chain and a new intake system. The water pump was changed since they were that far into the engine when doing the timing chain replacement as well. This car gets looks, thumbs up, lots of conversation and my wife says it makes me look better (please note the blond girls and black dog in the July 4th parade here in our community.)We moved to Texas from California and did not know about the bugs and heat here so this car is the money for a new patio with windows and A/C when sold. You will never see another car like this and it is truly very special. Somebody's Christmas would be made very Merry with this present!!!I might even deliver it if it is not too far.
