THIS ONE IS FOR A COLLECTOR...It is a special car...VIN 10704412000040SUPER early R107 vin number 40!!!!!!!11/19/2022 I polished up the car and entered 1st classic car show and itWON an award! "Best Original VintageCar" Farmers Branch Classic Car Show TEXAS.To my knowledge, this is the single earliest production R107sl for sale worldwide. If you are familiar with R107 Mercedes, you know the first US cars were shipped over with the 350sl badge, but they have the bigger 450sl motor. US Mercedes dealers offered to update the badge to 450sl, but this one retainsthe original350sl factory badge.
Looks good! Small bumpers. Original interior is amazing! The dash has no cracks. Great restoration project. Engine has new plugs and wires. Old gas tank has been removed andreplaced with new one. Engine runs. I can't finish the project, so it is time to sell this rare SL as is...send a trailer to pick her up. Beautiful car that deserves a full restoration. VIN 10704412000040The body is straight, it does have some rust as you can see in the pictures.
The car is now 50 years old. R107 production ran from model years 1972-1989 with this body style. This very early one was actually producedin June of 1971 and was one of the very first R107 SL's to arrive in the United States.

I have owned it for 3 years. I chased this car and now it's up for sale!!! It is not restored. "Barn Find" It needs to be finished. Gas tank has been replaced, and I just have too much going on to finish it right.UPDATE #1: my mechanic HAS INSTALLED the new gas tank, new fuel filter, new fuel pump, new tank filter/screen, new fuel sender, etc. I have paid him $4200 thus far. My loss is your gain...Update #2: above update #1 is complete. Fuel tank is installed, good fuel flow to the engine and through fuel rails. Next step is sending all 8 BOSCH injectors out to be flow tested & cleaned.UPDATE, all 8 Bosch fuel injectors have now been cleaned, restored and flow tested.UPDATE 10/27/2022: all injectors installed and the ENGINE RUNS!!!Just spent over $5700 restoring the fuel systemand tuning. Fires right up and purrs like a kitten!UPDATE: brakes have now been flushed, bled and have new fluid running throughthe 4 new brake hoses. Paid $990 for that.
....now she DRIVES!!!! Yes! Starts, runs, shifts and stops!
