Description for Mercedes-Benz 400-Series 1974
"The Mercedes-Benz W116 is a series of flagship vehicles produced from September 1972[2] until 1979. The W116 automobiles were the first Mercedes-Benz models to be officially called S-Class. although earlier sedan models had already unofficially been designated with the letter 'S' - for Sonderklasse or "special class. " The 450 SE was a technical tour-de-force when new. and still commands attention today for its solidity. engineering. and build quality. "This 450SE was purchased new by a couple who drove it and maintained it carefully. with no expense spared. for forty years--until August. 2014. The car is in beautiful condition with shiny. mostly original paint in a deep dark green that perfectly compliments the tan M-B Tex interior. This car gets lots of comments for its beautiful appearance. All chrome is in excellent shape. The tires appear excellent with no visible wear. The windshield has some light fogging at the bottom. and one small star chip on passenger side. Not serious enough to warrant replacement. The mechanical condition of this car is such that I would hop in it and drive it anywhere. Engine compression is excellent and even. with all cylinders at 145-150 lbs cold. with throttle closed. It is smooth and quiet and will make a great cruiser for the whole gang. The Becker Mexico stereo radio and power antenna work beautifully. The car has a complete stainless steel exhaust system. The previous (original) owner kept meticulous records. from the window sticker and data plate. owners manual and related new car data. through to every service and repair invoice throughout the car's existence. There are also numerous owner's notes that accompany the many receipts. Some of the notes are written in the German language. as the owner was a German-American person and extraordinarily proud of the car. Included also are the original tools in their fabric tool roll. The next owner of this car will have a fine car that can be used immediately. and that can be maintained and improved easily due to the model's excellent parts availability and well-known engineering. The color alone is enough to make the car stand out at any cars and coffee event. or just at the supermarket! No warranty. This is a 40 year old car and is sold as-is. Buyer responsible for shipping.
