Description for Mercury Grand Marquis 1972

You're looking at a 800+ horsepower TV star. This 1972 Mercury Marquis coupe was built up by the guys at Detroit Muscle to be the baddest Merc you've ever seen and it still has A/C and power windows! But you don't have to see the air ride compressor in the trunk to know this one left its cruiser roots behind in the dust. This Marquis started out about a year ago as a barn find grade coupe. We know these to be easy cruisers, and so the paint even reflects a lifetime on the highway. But this one really earned The Highwayman nickname on the TV show because of its apocalyptic amount of power installed. We'll get into more of the details on the motor in a moment, but this custom coupe already sends plenty of messages about its upgrades. This one need to inhale so much fresh air, and the V8 is so large, that they had to cut that big opening in the hood even the Mercury Marauder didn't need to breathe so much! And those huge American Racing Max Grundy 20-inch wheels on the lowered suspension are certainly not stock. But overall, nothing is out of line with this Mercury's styling. After all, the hidden headlights are quite sporty, and the shine of the chrome bumpers matches the wheels so nicely.Just like the exterior, the burgundy interior shows a lifetime of cruising. As a true Mercury, you've got great comfortable options like power seats, power locks, power steering, and power windows... all of which are still working today. Even the air conditioning was converted to modern R134a. While all of this makes for a great cruiser that has the room for plenty of family and friends, it's the driver who gets to enjoy this one the most. When you slip behind the two-spoke factory wheel, you'll easily spot the auxiliary gauge trio and large AutoMeter tach. This instantly reminds you of the monster motor even before you twist the key and hear it roar.We won't leave you in suspense any longer on all the details under the hood. It starts with a 557 cubic-inch V8 fully built by with Eagle Specialty Products. And more than just big block power, it also has been built from day one to be hardy enough for a nitrous system, if current output is not enough. The full assembly includes Mahle forged pistons, King bearings, Comp Cams roller cam, 1.73 ratio roller rockers, Trick Flow Powerport 325 heads, huge aluminum radiator w/dual electric fans, Trick Flow intake, and a massive Holley Ultra Dominator 1,150 CFM four-barrel carburetor. There's so much more to this motor, and so it's great that you can watch all four episodes of Detroit Muscle that featured this build. Making sure this can exhale as fast as it can make power, there is a set of Hooker Super Competition headers that connect to a custom-built Borla dual exhaust. Oh yeah, they're going to know you've got a serious Merc the moment you let those pipes roar. More than just pure power, this one is fully built to get all the muscle to the streets. That's why you have a stout C6 three-speed automatic transmission fortified by Mega Monster and an HD torque converter. This feeds a fortified Currie 9-inch rear end. Plus, four-wheel disc brakes and Mickey Thompson tires ensure great grip. There's even an air ride suspension, so you can lower the whole thing to the ground when it's time to show off at the cruise-in.How many people get to show their friends a national TV program documenting a car's quality and custom built? Seriously, already you know the custom pieces are worth more than the price alone, and so the celebrity status is just a huge bonus. Don't miss this one-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Call today!!!
