DESCRIPTION:

This NO RESERVEauction is for a very nice looking 1951 MGTD in exterior green color with a black top and interior. These early Post-war MGs really stand out on the road and never fail to bring out some smiles and thumbs up from people when you are driving them around. They are a blast to drive and are still very capable of keeping up with traffic. The suicide doors are a feature that takes a little getting used to, ut getting in and out of one of these is much easier than it looks and they will easilyaccommodate 6 footers even with the top up!

This stock example has been just recently been put back into service after being off the road for several years, s shown by the 2012 New York State motor vehicle inspection sticker. The owner got it running and started to sort it out, ut it needs some attention to get it totally street worthy again. The broad paint scrapes and scratches on the front of the car are the result of an unfortunate storage tent collapse and the poles did the damage.

One of the nice things about these cars is the simplicity. Owning one of these won't put you in the poor house. There is very adequate parts availability and most of themaintenance doesn't require a degree in rocket science. This particular MGTDis extremely rust free and appears to have ahigh degree of originality. The gas cap needs to be repaired or replaced in order to stay closed tightly and carburetor air filtration needs to be installed.

The wooden dash is weather beaten and the top needs to be replaced, o the car is presently stored safely inside a building. The bright work is all in fairly good condition. We didn't want to bog you down with pages of MGTD history and information, onsidering that most of the enthusiasts looking at this listingwill know much more about this car than we do.

This car is currently registered and can be driven, ut only for short distances before it is sorted. We did take the car for a brief drive and it behaves fairly well. It runs smoothly hitting on all four cylinders, hifts properly and comes to a halt when brake pedal pressure is applied. This MG fires right up and there is no smoke, oises, eaksor other gremlins as it warmsup nicely and settles rightinto a comfortable idle as you push the choke back in. At the time we shot the images most of the electronics were functioning correctly. This car is over 60 years old and does need some TLC, o please forgive us if we overlooked some other minor flaws.
