Description for Mini Classic Mini 1989

1989 Mini Classic, 98cc Automatic, -Spec., /C, 9k miles (115k KM)SERIAL NUMBER:99XA-0926-AR (not recognized byeBay VIN#s)Recently returned from Okinawa with my 98 Mini, ut have decided to sell her to fund something more family friendly. If you're a collector or looking for a unique, ight-hand drive car, ake the time to read this ad. I can't tell you the entire history of the car, ut I will tell you what I know...good and bad. I believe in an honest transaction so if there is anything you want to know about the car, lease ask. DISCLAIMER - This is NOT a gray market vehicle. I have all of the appropriate export/import certification in hand. HISTORY - I purchased this car while in Okinawa and it has never seen a U.S. title. The car will be titled and registered in Maryland unless the buyer chooses otherwise. If you want to know how many owners this car has had, ood luck. It's hard to say. After purchasing the car from an owner that highly neglected it, spent countless hours and dollars in getting it back to the condition you see today. Here is a list of what has been changed, eplaced, pdated, tc:
  • Paint and rustrepair $1800. The lower sills of the doors showed rust as did the bumper and inside of the boot (from a leak in the seal). These parts were cut out, eplaced and painted OEM colors. This was not a rotisserie paint job or restoration. This was finished this year (May) in Okinawa and it looks great. High gloss and luster followed up with Colliniteshand polishing.
  • Tune up - this included brakes, otors, new belts, ngine mount, eater valve, lugs and wires
  • Overhauled Carb and adjustment
  • New Air filter
  • New Duralast battery (AutoZone 2-yr warranty)
  • Kenwood AM/FM/CD player with 2 rear speakers
  • Replaced rear, ide window seals
  • GAZ lowered and adjustable shocks (4) (<1 inch)
  • Installed HD tie rods, elocated track kit, tc. (Drives straight and smooth
  • Nardi steering wheel
  • Custom dash with Carbon Fiber overlay (not real CF). This was installed by the previous owner.
  • New Tachometer
  • New heater core
  • A/C rewired (A/C works but needs to be recharged with R12 or converted to R134)
  • Tinted rear and side windows (35%) - Driver and Passenger windows have no tint)
  • Professionally powdercoated (Satin black - grille, ood trim, ront/rear bumpers, ear view mirror, heels)
  • New Kuhmo 12" tires (less than <500 miles)
  • 12" Mini wheels
  • Performance, enter exhaust
  • Billet aluminum door and window hardware
  • Custom "Mini" door cards
  • New boot seal (no more leaky!)
I'm sure there is more, ut these are the major points. All maintenance and work performed was by qualified mechanics. I have receipts to show the majority of the work, hough most of them are written in Japanese. THE BAD - Is the car perfect? No. The previous owner spray-painted the engine flat black to cover up rust, ice allowing the car to show it's age. I can't do anything about that. The headliner is intact, ut isstill the original so it could be replaced if you wanted to restore the vehicle to new condition. Likewise for thecarpet. All of the original carpet and carpet mats show the 25 years of use. I only put in rubber liners to preserve the originals. I built the car to have fun with it and went for the "blacked out" look because it wastruly unique. The biggest issue I have came after I got the car back from paint. Looking underneath I noticed the battery box has two, uarter-sized holes that the body shop failed to see, r neglected. Aside from that, here is no other rot that I have found. Floor pans, tc are all in tact and looking good. The car is turn key and ready for a new owner. It features the 998cc, utomaticpower plant that the majority of J-spec came with. The oil and filter was changed <100 miles ago and shifts smooth. The only skip I have felt is between 3-4 and it is minimal. With 79k miles, he car runs 200 times better than when I got it and looks 500 times better. It's been a toy for me the last few years, ut it's time to give it to someone who willtreat it right.INCLUDED - The car comes with a set of 3 keys (ignition, oot and gas cap), ll receipts and importation paperwork, nd a series of Haynes and Mini Classic repair manuals. I also have the original Japanese booklet, ut after reviewing it, ound it came from a different serial number. Regardless, ll the paperwork is in Japanese, o it's add a touch of class to the ownership. BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL SHIPPING COSTS. I REQUIRE A $500 IMMEDIATE DEPOSIT VIA PAYPAL TO SECURE THE VEHICLE. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THE AUCTION EARLY DUE TO A LOCAL SALE. PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS PRIOR TO BIDDING AND DO NOT BID IF YOU DO NOT INTENT TO PAY. THANK YOU!
