Description for Oldsmobile Cutlass 1970

1970 Oldsmobile 442 Cutlass Convertible
Local Pickup OnlyThis car is FAST! Its LOUD! Its a HOT ROD! It has won many trophies and plaques from car shows all over, including Best of Show at the 2006 Oldsmobile Club Nationals in Dallas, Texas.Everything on this car has been restored. Customized. Plenty of chrome.
My dad bought this car in 1982 from an old farmer in Hempstead, Texas. It was a pale yellow color, the top was a little torn up, but it FLEW! That was the only time he let me drive it for 30 years. He began restoring it slowly but surely and started showing it around 1993. He listened to the judges and afterward he would make sure that he took care of that particular problem (or whatever the judges didn't like about it) and then he took it to the Nationals in Dallas in 2006 and won Best of Show! This car has been in parades, driven bride and groom away from their wedding in style, been in so many car shows i can't even count them all, he has used it to raise money for Toys for Tots, among other charities for children, and it has sat parked in the local Kroger parking lot at Champion Forest Drive many many weekends with all the other hot rodders and their cars for the local (informal) car show where folks would just wander in and out, nothing formal, just a bunch of car lovers showing off their cars for the neighbors and each other. I don't know all of the technical stuff about this car, just that it is sweet and that my dad loved it! Now there is no one to take it out, or show it, or even sit in the parking lot at Krogers. My dad was a drag racer back in the late 50's and early 60's. He BUILT and RACED the dragsters. One of his dragsters was the first to break in to the "8's" on April 26, 1959 with a 8.97 run at the speed of 163 mph. His dragsters have been in more than a few of the Hot Rod magazines over the years. He was the first LEGEND at the Legends of Drag Racing Event back in 2012 (i think). The man LOVED cars, LOVED working on them, looking at them, racing them, showing them, sitting in them. He passed away in January and the 442 just sits in the shop. We go out and start it once a week, drive it to the gas station once a month, but it needs TLC. Someone who appreciates a really GREAT car and all of the history and work and love that has gone into it. If you are interested, please send me an email and I will do my best to answer all your questions. Thanks for reading this long drawn out description, but I couldn't just list it without telling some of the story.
