Description for Other Makes 1913 Metz 22 1913
This old "horseless carriage" vehicle was restored in the 1950's by a family friend. My father acquired it from him sometime in the 1970's. It went on two Glidden Tours that I'm aware of, he emblem for the 1958 Glidden Tour is attached under the seat. In the mid 1990's it was taken out of the dry storage that it had been in for years and a local well-known antique car restorer got it running so that it could be photographed by well known photographer Ozzie Sweet for a calendar. I think that it has been in several calendars since then, he last one I know of was in 2002 which is pictured here with the listing. At that time it was put back into the dry storage area where it has been since until I took it out last week and brought it to my house where it sits in the garage. This was my father's car (he passed away at 83 in 2001) and I had no intention of selling it but I had a chance to buy back my 1957 Thunderbird that I foolishly sold 19 years ago. I had to take advantage of that opportunity and I can't keep them both, o that's why this is going up for sale!I do not know much about these cars other then they are unusual with the "friction" drive concept. You can probably find out a lot that you want to know by doing a google search. The paint on this car is 60 or so years old and it still looks very good! There are however some places that it has chipped off. The car has not run since the mid-90's but the engine does turn over so it probably wouldn't take much to get it going again.
Thanks for looking. I really want this to go to a good home since it has such family attachments. I doubt I can answer very many technical questions about the car but you can ask and I'll see. Good luck!
