Description for Other Makes Humber Super Snipe 1964

Vintage British Luxury Car This car is original and unrestored. and nearly 100% complete. but naturally showing wear for its age. A candidate for restoration. or it could be cleaned up and returned to running condition as-is. or used for parts. Find out more about this model. and Humber Super Snipes in general. here. As a Rootes enthusiast. I purchased this car many years ago and drove it periodically for about a year. I was told when I bought it that it needed a head gasket. and it did have low compression on two adjacent cylinders. but ran ok anyway. I took the car off the road to rebuild the brakes. and collected the parts to fix them and the head gasket. I parked the car in a heated. dry warehouse. and it has sat there ever since. Auction includes a head gasket set. front brake calipers rebuild kits (seals and pistons). and a brake master cylinder rebuild kit. Also photocopies (not originals) of a factory workshop manual and transmission manual. The frame. undercarriage. suspension. floors. and wheel wells of this car are remarkably solid and rust free. There is surface rust around the edges in lots of places. and the door skins and the bottoms of some of the fenders/rockers show some bubbling as would be expected of any car this age. Does not appear to have ever suffered any collision damage. Most. if not all. of the chrome and stainless trim is present. but some of the chrome pieces (like the front grille) are peeling and have rust. Additional pictures are available upon request. The leather. wood. and chrome interior is almost entirely complete. and I believe some of the carpet segments are original wool. but all these things are naturally worn. The leather is dry and brittle. and has some fading. checking. and tears in places. The veneer (walnut burl?) and varnish on the wood parts hazed and checked. and peeling in places. but I believe all pieces are there. The molded dash pad is warped and cracked. as is typical. Glass is all in good condition. A few small items are missing (e. g the "M" on the hood. the original windshield washer bottle. LF turn signal lens). but several other pieces are loose but included (driver's side chrome trim). Holes were cut in the original front door panels for speakers. Headliner is in good condition. This car has a 2965cc (3L) OHV in-line 6 cylinder motor. with a cross-flow head. It has a Borg Warner automatic transmission (2 speed?) and power steering. both of which worked fine when the car was parked. The information on the serial number plate decodes as follows: "POS" = Power Operated Steering. "BW" = Borg Warner automatic transmission. "L" = LHD. "U" = estate car (station wagon). "X" = non-standard (not sure what's non standard about this car). This car has collected dust (as seen in the pictures) for all the time it has been parked. It has been stored in a heated dry warehouse/garage (as pictured) but. at a minimum. it will need to be cleaned up and have the known mechanical issues addressed. and will undoubtedly need some attention from sitting so long (fluids. tires. etc). Please contact me if you have any questions about the condition of the car. This listing is for pickup only. I will naturally work with the buyer to schedule pickup and will extract the vehicle from the storage site to the street. but otherwise loading and shipping are the buyer's responsibility.
