TRUE ’63 Big Block 426ci Max Wedge V8 with Dual Barrel Carbs! Very Documented Car! Borg Warner T-10 4-Speed Manual Transmission! Galen Govier Report *See Photos* MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present the beautifully preserved. totally badass 1963 Plymouth Belvedere with a TRUE ‘63 big block 426 Wedge powerplant! This car comes to us from the dry state of Arizona and it is absolutely wonderful! This car is an excellent example of the awesome muscle cars put out in the 1960s! It should be noted that the car has never been restored with the exception of the engine bay and this Belvedere has spent all of its life in California and Arizona! Finished in what appears to be the original shade of red. the paint is in original shape. There are spots along the edges where the paint has thinned out and the metal shows through and some rock chips throughout but overall. the car shows phenomenally! The body is straight and solid while the undercarriage is in beautiful condition as the car has spent a great majority of its life in the dry state of California. The chrome is in beautiful condition and shows only minor imperfections due to its age. This muscle car is sure to turn heads anywhere it goes with its original appearance and the sounds of the massive 426 rumbling under the hood. whether it is cruising on a Friday night or at the track! Inside. the interior appears as if it has been reupholstered in the past and shows well. The seats are wrapped in a combination of red vinyl with red cloth and gold piping which are in great condition. showing no signs of major wear or imperfection. The two tone door panels and headliner are all in great condition as well. The dashboard is in original condition as well and still houses the original Plymouth gauges which look great. There is also a Sun Super Tach II upon the dashboard and a set of Autogage gauges beneath the dash that monitor the oil pressure. voltage and water temperature. Overall. the inside of this car looks great! Under the hood. you’ll find the massive and extremely powerful. TRUE ’63 426 cubic inch Wedge Big Block V8 with dual 4-barrel carburetors. The car and engine are listed in Darrell Davis’ Max Wedge Book. Much of what is outlined in the Davis book is on the Galen Govier Report which is pictured below. The ignition has been upgraded and now has a Mallory Ignition system. The engine breathes through means of big headers and they sound great through the exhaust. The engine bay is exceptionally clean and tidy. This engine runs smooth and sounds just as good! It should be noted that this car has its original Ram Horn factory exhaust headers and factory cut out exhaust system. Wow! Attached to the V8 is a 4-speed manual transmission. shifted through a floor shifter. The transmission was originally a 3-speed manual and was upgraded to a 4-speed. This car is not only insanely fun to drive. but it drives awesome! The engine block is an original AAQA stamped 426 Wedge the serial number is 2406730-1 with 11-4-63 casting date. The engine is not original to the car which 95% of the time is the case since the original blocks were blown up racing. Virtually all 3-speed manual transmissions were swapped to 4-speeds once the stronger 4-speeds became available in late 1963. The stamp pad at the front of the block is stamped V-42 12 19; this decodes as V = 1964 as the model year. 42 = 426 cubic inch engine. 12 19 signifies 12-19-63 assembly date. The current engine was factory rated at 365 horsepower rather than the original’s 415hp which is due to a different compression ratio and its single carb. Please note that almost all of the real 426 AAQA blocks that came in original cars were blown up. The engine and transmission in this car have been in it since the mid 60’s. There is zero difference between this block and the original block. The internal difference is the higher compression ratio of the original. Also the car has a vintage deep sump oil pan along with Vintage Speed accessories (the distributor) and gauges. All carb linkage. the intake manifolds and exhaust manifolds are the original ones it was born with in 1963. It should be noted that the car still has its complete factory Super Stock Max Wedge exhaust system including mufflers and tail pipe hangers. These are never found on cars today. It also has all its original body panels. interior pieces including carpet and pedal rubber. The rims. glass. rear mounted battery and frame are all original to the car. It has its original Super Stock springs along with the double tie down for the emergency brake cable. This is one of the secrets to tell if a car is a real Max Wedge. Even the experts rarely install the double brake cable tie down. The car currently has Holley / Edlebrock carbs which greatly enhance drivability. The car comes with the correct Carter 3700 carbs which do not have any choke provisions which I’ve been told could have been correct since the car was delivered new to San Diego. The car has spent its entire life in California and Arizona and has never had any rust or collision repair. All documentation proves it has only resided in those two states. The paint is 95% original with the exception of the engine bay and the hood. The Belvedere sits upon a set of 15″ black steel wheels with brushed Plymouth center caps wrapped in P225/70R15 white stripe tires. The tires are BRAND NEW and will greatly enhance the ride once it gets back out on the streets! Included with the purchase of this fine Plymouth are as follows; the original 426 Super Stock Owners Manuals. 1963 Operating Instructions for the 1963 Plymouth. 1963 Part Numbers Manuals. a Hot Rod Magazine review of the 1963 Plymouth 426 Belvedere from January 1963. a Mopar Action Review magazine with an identical Belvedere from October 2005 (which later sold as a complete restoration at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale this year for $103. 00!!!). a copy of the Chrysler Punch Card verifying that it was built exactly as it is currently configured. the original sealed Galen Govier Report from 1996 verifying that it is a real Super Stock 426 Max Wedge and all documentation from Darrell Davis Plymouth Super Stock book that lists the car by serial number and lists all correct equipment. A note about the fender tag. or lack thereof: Unfortunately. when the car went in for the engine compartment to be detailed. the fender tag came up missing. sigh. The stamped and sealed Govier Report was done on June 12th. 1996 when the tag was still on the car. The VIN is clearly visible on the report and of course. still on the car. All previous California registration shows that the car was registered in San Diego and was last registered there in 1978. The California plate on the car is from 1981. The Galen Govier report shows that the original selling dealer was in San Diego and that the car was ordered out of the LA Zone Office. The car was later moved to the dry state of Arizona in 1982 with its last registered owner was then sold to the current owner’s friend in 1996. He garaged the car and never registered it. The car has not been registered since the last date on the California license plate which is about 33 years ago. The car has not been operated on the streets since at least 1978. Will you be the next to take her out on the streets!? This badass Plymouth would make an excellent addition to any muscle car fan’s collection! The VIN is 3231187340 and the mileage currently shows 38. 98. It is being sold on a clean and clear title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
