Description for Pontiac Trans Am 19800000
1980 PONTIAC TRANS AM
For sale is a turbo edition trams am with the WS6 package. This car has a fresh built completely new 500 horse power 377 stroker small block Chevy engine, new B&M custom built turbo 400 transmission, tainless braided Aeromotive fuel system, tainless mandrel bent 2.5'' exhaust with x-pipe cross over, ooker headers and aero chamber mufflers, nd rebuilt rear end with 455 gears. I built this car to be a street strip warrior, nd done everything right with premium parts. I built this engine with the potential to handle an additional 300hp shot of nitrous. This car had been hit in the front passenger side when I bought it, ut it didn't get into the frame. I replaced the nose, ore support, nd fender with original Trans am parts from the junk yard. I didn't use reproduction parts because the original stocks the best quality. I also put a cowl inducted fiberglass hood on it because I couldn't find a shaker hood locally. The fender has some surface rust but will easily be sanded out when prepped for paint. The car has about 20 miles on the engine and drive train. The reason is when I got done building it about five years ago it had too much power for the stock driveline and twisted it in two (still doesn't have a driveline, f the buyer wants I can put one on if they cover the cost of the drive line). I then garaged it because I was getting married that same year and didn't have the money to put into it. Now my priorities have changed and don't have the money to finish it. While it was garaged mice had got into it, ut I got it out cleaned it real well and parked it outside last fall. I bought the car out of southern California, t has zero rust except for the surface rust on the replacement fender I put on it. The body is now very straight and in excellent shape. Basically the only thing that's left to do is paint and interior, r you can drive as is. Has power windows and locks, ower trunk popper, our wheel disc brakes, nd WS6 package (explained below) has air conditioning, asically all the options except T-tops. This car is sold as is it is the buyer's responsibility to ask questions before bidding. I'll be happy to answer any questions you have so please feel free to ask me. You can bid with confidence this is a straight strong project car done right. I also have the original 301 turbo engine along with the Pontiac turbo 350 transmission to go with it if the buyers interested. Let me go over the specifics of the car starting with the engine.

WS6 Info.
A lot of people ask "What is the WS6 Performance Package?". In 1978, ontiac came out with the WS6 Performance Package as an upgrade to the suspension on the Trans Am in 1978 (Named the "Trans Am Special Performance Package") and on the Formulas and Trans Ams in 1979 and later (Named the "Special Performance Package"). The package consisted of a larger diameter sway bar, ighter steering box gear ratio, R70-15 raised white letter GoodYear Polysteel Radials, nd also the 15x8 inch snowflake rims which the total package was between $251 and $324 upgrade cost depending if you also went with the W72 Performance Package as well. In 1978, he rear brakes were still the drum brakes with the WS6 Performance Package. The rear disc brakes did not come out until 1979. One of the main additions with the WS6 Performance Package was the 15x8 Snowflake rims which really gave the car a wider stance.

Now in 1979, hey added the rear disc brakes to the WS6 Performance Package. So, t included everything listed above, ut now had 4-Wheel Disc Brakes all the way around. But there are a few confusing items for 1979 in determining if your car is equipped with the WS6 Handling Package. Just because the car has rear disc brakes, oes not mean that you automatically have the WS6 Package. In 1979, ou could order just the rear disc brakes on your car using the J65 RPO code and not have the WS6 package. The second confusing issue was that there was also a WS7 Performance Package in 1979 as well. Because of the popularity of the rear disc brakes across the Pontiac car line, hey actually ran out of disc brake rear ends. Because of the overwhelming response for the WS6 package, ut lack of the rear disc brake availability, hey came out with the WS7 Performance Package which was the same as the WS6 package in 1978 that had rear drum brakes. So, aving disc brakes or drum brakes in the rear in 1979, oesn't mean your car did have or didn't have the Performance Package.
