Description for Pontiac Bonneville 1979
1979 Pontiac Bonneville Landau 2 door, Black with Red interior. 11,013 original miles. I Purchased the car from the original owner in Ankeny Iowa, a suburb of Des Moines Iowa. He special ordered the car for his wife exactly the way she wanted it as a present.
The car was her pride and joy and she only drove it on occasional summer days and special occasions as they had another car. It has always been stored in a heated garage and the condition is a reflection of that care. I had the chance to buy the car a few years after her husband had passed away and she was in the process of downsizing and just didn’t have room for the car anymore.
The car is as close to new as I have seen on 6th generation Bonneville, but it is not without its faults. GM paint of the era was notorious for sometimes having less than desirable longevity, so there is some minor clear coat cracking around areas like the trunk release keyhole, door handles, and where the stainless meets the paint near the back corner of the drivers door and vinyl top. However, this is only seen when examining the car very closely, and cannot be seen from normal standing distance (5-10ft). These are not areas for rust concerns as it is just the clear coat slightly contracting due to age; the car is extremely solid with no mentionable rust issues. I have all the books and brochures from new including the original warranty cards and owner information. It is mechanically sound I have had to do no work to the car except for normal maintenance items like the changing of fluids and a belt. It runs down the road wonderfully and is a very nice example.
I have a few other classic and collector cars that I’d like to give some more attention to, so I’ve decided that I need to sell a couple cars off, this car being first, with my ’68 Bonneville being next to go. Finding these late 70’s Bonneville Coupes in original condition is getting very hard to do. 4-door sedans are still pretty easy to find as they are very common, but the 2-door coupes are definitely more collectable.
The next owner of this car will be very pleased with it, but I invite anyone who is interested to have the car independently inspected, or to come up themselves and check it out. I would be more than happy to show the car. If you have any specific questions about the car, send me a message and I will do my best to answer them.
