1969 GTO JUDGE. Original Matching Numbers Engine, 400 c.i. Ram Air III. Pontiac Historical Society verified with The Judge option. If you are a serious buyer then I don't need to explain the significance of The Judge option or the value of having the original engine. Here is what I can tell you about this car.
I purchased the car in 1999 from a guy in Grand Rapids Michigan. He was a sort of car broker and he had several GTOs and was raising money to start a business. The car was titled out of Southern California when I bought it. The reasons that I bought the car were: verified Judge option; block number matched the VIN; super clean underneath. This car was obviously somewhere warm for most of its' life. In the pictures of the bottom of the car I did not clean the underside of the car as I didn't want to appear that I had painted the bottom. The lighter color you see on the underneath pictures are just dirt.
After I bought the car I replaced any rusted metal brake and fuel lines and all of the rubber brake and fuel lines. I blasted the rally II wheels and powder coated the silver base on them. I added the charcoal gray and several coats of clear to them. They still look great almost 20 years later. I installed an original GTO "wood wheel" even though it is not original to this car it looks great. The wood wheels fetch over $400. I beleive that I have the original black steering wjeel that I will include with the car.
The car runs strong although it doesn't get run often enough. I rebuilt the motor in 2006. If I recall correctly, it is bored 30 over. I added a mechanical oil pressure gauge just because it is so important. I just bought a new Optima battery in August 2018 for it.
Body wise I already told you that the bottom side is clean. I had to replace the panel directly between the rear window and the deck lid. There a few bubbles under the paint on the deck lid that haven't worsened since I have owned the car. There are some scrapes and scratches in the paint, that's why I posted so many pictures as to not hide anything. I had to replace the hood tach and it is fully functional. The hood and enduro bumper where repainted in the process. The speedometer/odometer does not work. I replaced the pencil gear for the speedo once but it didn't last long. The rear end is not a post unit and has highway gears in it. This was great for us because I didn't ever race the car but we did take many out of town trips in the car over the years. The transmission is a four speed and works well but I am not sure if it is a Pontiac transmission or not. These issues are relatively inexpensive to fix if desired.
This is a matching numbers engine actual Judge that at least meets the Average Value and has some attributes of the High Value description, somewhere between these two NADA descriptions: Average Retail Value This vehicle would be in good condition overall. It could be an older restoration or a well-maintained original vehicle. Completely operable. The exterior paint, trim and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. A "20-footer”. High Retail Value This vehicle would be in excellent condition overall. It could be a completely restored or an extremely well-maintained original vehicle showing very minimal wear. The exterior paint, trim and mechanics are not in need of reconditioning. The interior would be in excellent condition. Some vehicles may be considered "matching numbers" vehicles.
