The following provides some perspective on the 1978-1983 Porsche 911:

Porsche engineers don't make mistakes often but the US spec 2.7 liter 911s Porsches built between 1975 and 1977 were plagued with engine problems, hen new. In 1978, orsche put those problems behind them with the introduction of the brilliant 3.0 liter 911SC. Porsche now finally mated a body that was capable of lasting indefinitely with an engine that was capable of lasting nearly that long. Well maintained 911SCs are capable of 300,000 miles between rebuilds. Power was up too from the 2.7 liter 911 although not by an enormous amount and the SC was good for a 0-60 run of about 6.3 seconds. Leather, /C, nd forged alloy wheels became all but standard. It wasn't quite the perfect 911 - that would have to wait until the 3.2 liter Carrera - timing tensioners and exploding air boxes would continue to plague the 3.0 later cars. By now though, nthusiast owners have updated those trouble spots on most cars and the 911SC remains an excellent choice for a first Porsche.

With the new engine, ower was increased to 207 bhp for North American-delivered cars. This version of the 911 accelerated 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds and had a top speed of 150 mph as measured by Autocrat. Factory times were more modest: 0-60 mph time of 6.3 seconds for the US version.

2005 - Clutch replaced and transmission rebuilt.

All service records including those dating back to the second owner are available.

The majority of maintenance has been done by TRE Automotive, os Angeles.

This Porsche has been a California garaged, un, Sunday" driver. As a driver, here are a few imperfections: a crease on the driver side back bumper, aint chipped on the drivers side door and front bumper, mall crack on passenger side rocker panel and the A/C will need re-charging.
