I drive this car almost daily.
This matching numbers and very original/correct wood-dash 1966 Porsche 911 was originally ordered through Porsche of America Corporation by John D. Schugrue on July, 13 1966. Recently on a drive through Laguna Beach, CA. Since being discovered in early 2014, this time capsule has been subjected to a very sympathetic mechanical restoration. The idea was to retain as much originality as absolutely possible with a focus on safety and reliability. There are many over-restored early 911s out there, but you will be hard pressed to ever find a car as original and sound as 304736. Original orange-bar hood crest with nice patina, along with all original badging, none of that re-pro junk. Wearing a 40 year old respray in its original 6603 "Golf Blue" shade, 304736 presents an astonishing level of originality. Perfect gaps and panel fitment. Door shut with that signature Porsche ping. Original Siglia and Sekurit glass. Original gauges all date coded 3/66. Chrome is original with light patina. Original wood steering wheel. Ordered with factory Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio and Hirschmann antenna. Interior is 95% original. Wheels are all original 15x4.5 and date coded 3/66. A new set of Vredestein Sprint Classic tires help perfect that original Porsche stance. All lenses are original Hella and Bosch turn signals, as delivered with the car. Rare ANCO red-dot dealer installed wipers. Matching 3/66 date coded spare wheel! Original motor #907844 in very good running condition has recently been gone through with valve adjustments and gaskets, seals, carb re-builds, and ignition components. It runs fantastically. This 911 runs, drives, shifts, and stops just as it would have in 1966!!! This is the early 911 that most have been looking for. No stories, never modified or recent full restoration. Just an honest California car that has had a very easy and loving life. The car was stored inside a residential garage from 1979 to 2014. The car has rust in the passenger lower fender, rockers, jack points and below the torsion housing. The floors and frame rails are solid.
