This is a no reserve auction for a very nice 1965 Porsche 911 project carvin number 300717 (717th901/911 made) completed 4-9-65 (Kardex shown in pictures).I also have the Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche and a cleanOregontitle in my name. This car was purchased new inSalem,Oregonand has been in the area since then and it has been off the road and in dry storage since 1981. This Porsche is highly original and in many ways it is in amazing condition. The original color is signal red; a lot of the original paint is still present such as inside the doors for example.

This car is missing the engine but it is otherwise very complete including the numbers matching transmission and most of the rare early 911 parts. I have collected most of the parts to build a correct 1965 engine, including Paul Abbott rebuilt Solex carburetors and those parts all or in whole are available to the buyer at an additional cost if they so desire. I can also put the buyer in touch with a friend and famed Porsche engine builder who has a “turn key” restored and rebuilt 65 engine for sale.

This is probably one of the most rust free early 65, 911 cars that has been offered for sale. This 911 has never seen salt and like I said it has been off the road since 1981. When I purchased this Porsche about four years ago it had typical rust in the battery area, the back of the right rocker and some in the lower rear corner of the driver’s side door jam. I’m a proficient welder with a lot of rust repair experience and I replaced those areas with new metal, see pictures. The floor pans, back seat area and other areas that are often rusty are in remarkable condition. Under the car on the floor pans I simply used a wire wheel and removed loose undercoating and light surface rust, I left it in bare metal as shown in the pictures. I refinished the interior floor pans so that I could properly install the interior.

The doors and deck lid are numbers matching and have 717 stamped into them.The passenger door had enough damage that I paid an auto body professional to re-skin that door. Interestingly the rear bumper corners have the numbers 720 stamped into them and they have original signal red paint inside so I know that the switch happened at the factory (car #720 was and is blue). I could not find numbers in the fenders or front hood but I can tell they are original to the car. The front fenders and deck lid have been media blasted and primered.

The entire interior is original, all of the carpet pieces are original but I added four nice floor mats from pieces that I have collected over the years.Two out of four have the original snap in floor mats which came with the car and are included; they are in fair/good condition. The leather shift boot and emergency brake boots are original to this 911 and they are still nice.

All of the glass is very nice and original to this 911. All of the pieces have the small sekurit (not sekurit-1) logos. The windshield is the original Sigla made inWest Germany.All of the chrome trim is in remarkable condition.

What is included in the sale? Everything in the pictures goes with the car including the original spare wheel and tire, the original jack and a suberb original 1965 tool kit that is mostly complete.

What is missing? The engine, the front trunk carpet, the in fender window wash bag, a radio, antenna, and owner’s manual are needed. There may be some other minor items but those are the main things.

What needs to be done? Finish the body work and paint the car. Add an engine, rebuild the brakes, add battery and fluids and fine tune the mechanicals.

Why am I selling this rare early 911? Frankly I’m not in a financial position to do a full restoration on this car. I have enjoyed taking the car apart, doing the rust repair, cleaning and reassembling it while preserving as much of the history and originality as I could. It is time for someone else to finish and enjoy this early 1965 Porsche 911.
