Description for Porsche 944 1984

Hello,
For sale is a meticulously maintained, classic 1984 Porsche 944. This Porsche has had the engine completely rebuilt and excellently maintained to focus on reliability. Technicians, engineers, and myself have used OEM parts for the work. This is a wonderful sports car for the enthusiast that can appreciate the experience and loves working on them too.
This specific 944 originates from New Jersey according to the Carfax, which is clean. No accidents whatsoever. This vehicle was garaged in the winters after a thorough clay bar and hand wax by professionals.
Mileage on this 944 was at 122K before the engine was rebuilt, about 2K miles driven on it after the rebuild. Although most of the work was done by us, Midwest Performance Cars and Windy City Engineering handled a great portion as well. This is the perfect car for someone who loves the experience of driving a Porsche.
The 944 has seen a surge in popularity lately and the value of these cars will continue to go up, this 944 is excellently maintained. I will include an in-depth list of all the maintenance at the bottom of this listing.
This is an iconic German sports car that features a 2.5L inline 4-cylinder engine with an efficiently geared 5 speed manual transmission. This Porsche was designed for incredible handling; true rear wheel drive pushes this 2-door hatchback matched with 50/50 weight distribution.
In 1984, Car and Driver named the Porsche 944 the Best Handling imported car in the world, competing against the Porsche 911, Toyota Supra, Ferrari Quattrovalvole, and 6 others. In their words, ". . .the 944 won overall simply because, in its remarkably complex but also wonderfully integrated way, it has no all-around equal." And others, "Confidence-inspiring. Easy to learn. Terrific turn-in, linearity, brakes, engine, dead pedal, ride and handling over bumps. Carves up corners the way you want. Great piece!" I personally agree with these experts; the experience is completely different than any other car on the road. I'll include a link to their article at the bottom.
I have done my best to document everything for clarity and honesty, so all receipts will go with the car. Clean title in hand, no liens or issues.
I am available almost every day by phone/text/email for more information or to set up a viewing. The only thing I ask is for serious buyers only.
This car is designed for the enthusiast in mind, and I hope it goes to another enthusiast who can appreciate the sense of accomplishment that comes with working with your hands and be rewarded with mechanical precision on a wide-open road. Weekend car or touring across the country, quality makes all the difference when enjoying your passions in life.
Thank you and hope to hear from you soon!
Maintenance Info:
Completely overhauled, all receipts detailing the rebuild come with the car. Has only seen Mobil 1 full synthetic and 93 octane premium gas. The entire process was taken with extreme care and attention to detail. Specialized tools were purchased for precise adjustments and a professional was called in if ever necessary. The result was worth it; hundreds of hours of work pays off to make this engine is impeccable.
Engine:
Engine block was degreased, cleaned, and received a new cross-hatch on cylinder walls. Crankshaft measured for straightness and balance, pistons and rods were measured to be in specifications and polished. Replaced freeze plugs. Cylinder head was disassembled and degreased; springs, seats, and valves were precisely calibrated; guides and seals were replaced. Windy City Engineering professionally performed all the above work.
All new Victor Reinz upper and lower seals, gaskets, bushings, and washers. 12.9 strength bolts were used for components all over the engine and torque specs were respected wherever noted. All new OEM bearings used. Clearances measured for crankshaft, main bearings and rod bearings replaced, new piston rings, rod studs torqued in steps to exacting spec, all new anaerobic sealant applied. Harmonic balancers calibrated and resealed. New motor mounts. Hydraulic lifters were inspected and placed in the same order. Camshaft was inspected and OK'd, all new seals and torqued with a brand new triple square bolt. Oil cooler degreased and resealed.
Brakes and Clutch:
Brand new slotted and drilled zinc-coated disc rotors all around coupled with ceramic dust-minimizing pads. New front end ball joints, wheel bearings, 2 new calipers, and new hardware for all calipers. Emergency brake needs an adjustment. New Sachs clutch disc, new pressure plate, new pilot and throwout bearings, and machined flywheel. Clutch fork cleaned and regreased. New clutch master and slave cylinders. New hard line leading to power steering pump.
Miscellaneous:
New starter, fuel filter, fluids, alternator, O2 sensor, wipers, air filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, cap and rotor. New Interstate Battery with warranty, starts the car right up. New dashboard (no cracks!) and radio, aftermarket speakers. Rear seats removed. Sunroof works great, button has a little crack in it but works fine. Throttle body was degreased and fitted with all new seals. Original spare tire inspected by shop and in good working order. All new water pump, pulleys, and idlers; belts for timing, harmonic balancers, alternator, and power steering replaced. New thermostat, water temp sensor, and old water hoses were replaced preventatively. Rear defrost works wonderfully.
