Description for Shelby Mustang 1965

Reluctantly offered is my personal 1965 Mustang G.T. 350 replica. Cars like this don’t come up for sale often. As explained below, be confident you'll not find another like it. Please read description carefully, look at the pictures and email me direct at paul_01810@yahoo.com if you have a question.

This car was built and owned for 30 years by a military and CA sheriff's department pilot of distinction, a decorated Vietnam veteran and genuine American hero. You wouldn’t expect a combat pilot who regularly risked his life in a shooting war to come home to build somethingboringand this car assuredly isn't. Dick was excited about this car and during his lengthy ownership, this A code factory V8 4-speed fastback was an on-going southern California hot rod project that included JBA, Ford engineers, SAAC and Cobra Club members. They all just kept working on it over the years to get it they wayhe wanted. There was no detail too small, nothing was overlooked and the carmaintained to aircraft standards. Just like genuine GT 350's, this car is no boulevard cruiser. It runs and drives exactly like a real 1965 GT 350/GT 350R,and with brake, suspension and engine upgrades, at speed it will likely outperform any stock 1965 GT 350/GT 350R. It has never been hit and until I lately acquired it, it had been registered only in California. Up until a few years ago, it had run about 2 open tracks andmaybe 5 shows a year... lots of trophies. R serial number means San Jose car. Color is correct for 1965 350’s as are the painted on rocker and over the top Le Mans stripes. Naturally no rustor panels replaced. We think the car hasn't seen rain in over 25 years and Idon't even THINK about taking it out if rain isin the forecast... and no dirt roads ever. Glass and chrome nice but not new. Paint redoneback in late 1990's is good but not perfect. Engine has a big list, all good parts... this is no crate motor. Mexican 302 block bored to 306 cu inches. Program Engineering Caps, steel crank and Boss rods with ARP 8740 Bolts. Melling blueprinted pump and 10 quart Canton road race pan. Shelby oil filter cooler adapter with 11" by 9" G & J aircraft cooler. All lines Aircraft. Cylinder heads are Ford 351 cast iron reworked by Juan Mendoza at Flow Tech. Valves 202/160 Manley Stainless. Comp Billet Roller Cam with Comp Roller Rockers. Edelbrock aluminum intake, Holley 650 blueprinted double pumper. Ignition is Ford Autolite blue printed with Pertronix II ignitor and coil. Naturally brass gear and MSD wires cut to fit. Here’s the interesting part… builtabout 15 years ago and freshened it up about 5 years ago. It was perfect then and runs fantastic now. I don't think the car got to run more than 2000 miles a year, if that. Which means the fresh engine 5 years ago only has about 10,000 miles at most, likely less. When the engine was dynoed back then it was a hair over 350 HP at 6500on 91 octane pump gas (9.3:1 compression). One other interesting thing about the engine… it was built by Larry Molicone (Auto Dynamics). If you don't know the name, he has been building some of the fastest race engines for over 65 years. He's 84 now and you can watch him doing engines on The BIG RED Original Outlaw Racerprogram on TV. This is RJ Gotliebs famous Camaro. The engine is extremely dependable. Transmission is a wide ratio toploader with original Ford shifter. Thetrans was went through when the engine was done. It didn't need anything. At that time the clutch was switched to a McLeod street twin. Two 10 inch disc. Extremely dependable and easy pedal pressure. Rear is Versailles 9 inch Ford. 31 spline axles and dual circuit Ford disc brakes. The 3:25 gears work great on open trackswith wide ratio trans gears and keep your RPM's down on the freeway. Exhaust is coated Doug headers and nice 2-1/2” system with X-pipe and glass packs which '65 Shelby's used. Suspension has all the tricks. Global West Stage 5 on steroids. Koni Shocks all 4 corners. The SoCal hot rod guys who configured this car are serious vintage racers and ALL the race tricks are in this car. The nice part is the soft suspension set up and it's great on the street. BFG radial GT's on original Shelby Cragar's for nice ride on the street. If you want to open track, switch to seven inch wideAmericans and 600/15 Goodyear Racing Sports Car Specials and you will be impressed. Most people looking at this carare convinced it’s a genuine '65 GT 350. Please examine the pictures carefully and if you have a question, email me direct at paul_01810@yahoo.com and include your telephone number if you would like me to call.

Included in the sale are books, extra keys, fitted car cover and a binder containing various documents and brochures.

The '65 Mustang Fastback is adistinctive and iconic mid-sixties design. Some say it's the '32 Ford of another generation, inspiring lots of wild custom and show cars and there's likely never been a SEMA show without at least one. Because everyone thinks this car isreal, it attracts tons of attention. The car is an absolute blast to drive on the street and open track and is assuredly as nice a car as you would want to actually drive with none of the guilt you would have if it were a real 1965 Shelby G.T. 350. You’re welcome to come and look, just email me your contact info. We will be glad to help with you with shipping. If you are flying in, we can pick you up at the airport. Would I be afraid to drive it home? NOT AT ALL!
