DETAILS-THIS PARTICULAR 1976 VW BEETLE CONVERTIBLE
This 1976 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible is quite possibly one of the nicest remaining examples of a basically unrestored, urviving "driver" available in the market today. It looks great, rives as new, nd is extremely solid and original. It has been carefully maintained over the past 39 years by its owner who purchased the car new in 1976.
The VW "Beetle" wears the originally issued California blue license plates "251 PSK" and carries VIN # 1562108804. The odometer currently reads 891 miles. The mileage, s reported by the car's one owner, includes the fact that the odometer failed at 90,xxx miles (a common VW "reality") and currently reads 891. So, hile the exact mileage is not absolutely certain, t is clear that the VW has fewer than 100,000 original, ne owner miles. The car was termed a "Special Edition" in 1976 with a triple white color scheme (white paint, op and interior). This limited edition of virtually the same model vehicle became known as the "Champagne Edition" in 1977.
HISTORY
The car was manufactured in March 1976 and delivered to the USA as a new vehicle. Subsequently, old to its current and only owner, Northern California gentleman who is now 92 years young. It has spent its entire life in California as evidenced by the lack of rust through, ot, r inclement weather "patina".

COSMETIC CONDITION
The triple white color combination shows as well as any VW of this vintage that we have had the pleasure of owning or representing. The original white paint is high gloss a with minimal chips consistent with a vehicle of this vintage. There are no dents, ings or scratches. The very lowest part of the front valence panel shows the characteristic road rash that is not visible unless you lean down and look under the front of the VW. Extremely light "patina" shows on the minor chips but, to maintain the car's originality the owner has not elected to repaint this portion of the lower front of the Beetle. Based on this being a minimal and almost unnoticeable imperfection, e agree with his strategy. If the new owner elects to address this issue, he cost would be nominal and the color match would not be problematic based on the location of the chips. The car certainly is not in need of a repaint. Both bumpers are excellent with nice chrome and no dents.
The VW has clean straight lines and excellent original body gaps in typical German fashion. All of the original body panels remain in tact and there is no history of accident damage. The owner reported one small scratch on a fender that required re-painting of a fender but the workmanship is of such high quality that we are unable to determine which fender was repaired/repainted.
The original white vinyl convertible top is tight, ree of flaws and, frankly, s good as it gets for a car of this year and even much newer! The inside top "headliner" is similarly nice, ith some typical "drooping" on the edges when the top is up. All of the white seats are excellent as are the white door panels. Nice black floor mats cover the very good black rubber floors at all 4 positions. The black padded dash is crack-free.
The engine compartment is very tidy, lthough not detailed. It is not excessively dirty / oily and reflects excellent care over the years. The underside of the rear deck-lid is perfectly clean and free from grease or an accumulation of exhaust or dirt.
The front compartment has nice black floor mats and is in excellent shape; considerably better than VW's that we have seen over the years. A car cover is included with the sale. The underside of the car is solid, ree from excessive fluids and does not show signs of rust through, amage or an unusual accumulation of fluids. The suspension appears to be totally damage free and the car retains its original components, ngine parts and other factory bits. Unlike so many VW's the car remains totally free from modifications and is 100% stock.
DRIVABILITY
The VW starts immediately and has provided totally reliable occasional use over the course of over 38 years! As the owner got up in years, he car was used less and less but his mature son took over the responsibility of maintaining the car and ensuring that it was running at all times. The VW has never been stored for prolonged periods of time.
The later VW's are a pleasure to drive and have additional power over the early Beetles. The independent inspection on the VW revealed no issues with the engine, ransmission or major systems (brakes, suspension, ear transaxle, lectrical system, tc. In fact the mechanic indicated that virtually all of the components to be in excellent condition and commented about the excellent care that the car has received over the years by its one owner. The VW can, f course, e driven well in excess of any posted highway speed with no problem. It does not leak significant fluids, moke and sounds very healthy. The engine is clean but not over detailed reflecting regular maintenance and the typical patina of a VW of this vintage. There is no noise in the drive-line and the clutch engages smoothly and properly.
The Beetle steers straight, tops straight and has excellent brakes as a result of the stock front wheel disc brakes. The underside of the car is clean and free from damage, ust and any signs of previous repair of accidents. We encourage a review of the photos as the old adage "A photo is worth a thousand words" clearly applies in this instance! All of the electrical components are functional and the car passed California's strict safety inspection for lights, urn signals, ipers, within the previous week. The car is licensed and registered in California and, f course, as a free and clear title.

HISTORY OF THE VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE
The Volkswagen Beetle, fficially the Volkswagen Type 1, r informally in the US the Volkswagen Bug, s a two-door, our passenger, rear-engined economy car manufactured and marketed by German automaker Volkswagen (VW) from 1938 until 2003. Volkswagen means literally, "people's car" in German.
The need for this kind of car and its functional objectives were formulated by Adolf Hitler, ho desired a simple car to be mass-produced for the new German road network. He contracted Porsche in 1934 to design and build it to his exacting standards. Ferdinand Porsche and his team took until 1938 to finalize it, lthough the design was based entirely on the work of Béla Barényi, ho completed the design in 1925. This is one of the first rear-engined cars. With over 21 million manufactured in an air-cooled, ear-engined, ear-wheel drive configuration, he Beetle is the longest-running and most-manufactured car of a single design platform worldwide.
PURCHASING A COLLECTOR VEHICLE - THINGS TO CONSIDER

- How many positive collector car vehicle sales have they completed (positive eBay feedback)?
- How detailed/complete is the description of the vehicle?
- Do the photos show details of the interior, xterior, op, hrome, etc. or are they simply "glamour shots" taken from a distance?
- Does the seller have a Surety Bond to protect the financial transaction?
- What about insurance, icensing by the state, nd a local business license?
- Does the seller (if a business) have any DMV (Motor Vehicle) complaints and/or other history of legal action, rievances?
- Does the seller enjoy a favorable local and national/international reputation?
- Can the seller assist with funding sources, ransport and out of state/country sales?

- The majority of our vehicles come from local, rivate owners and collectors, nd many were sold new in California. We have sold hundreds of unique, lassic and collectible vehicles and regularly deal with buyers that have not had the experience of purchasing a large (both physically and monetarily) item on eBay, r through an Internet source. Our eBay feedback is 100% positive on all vehicle sales from customers around the globe and is a reflection of our commitment to accurate, omplete, nd thorough vehicle descriptions.

We ask that prospective buyers consider our eBay history/feedback, tanding in the community, length of time in business, nd other factors when purchasing a collectible vehicle from Classic Cars Ltd.
- Minor cosmetic issues/flaws may be present on every vehicle (regardless of cost) including small chips, icks, cratches, tc. that can be seen on even the best restoration, r even a relatively new, sed "pre-owned" vehicle. Also, wnership of a collectible / specialty vehicle is more enjoyable if the owner is familiar with the "realities" of these unique cars. Unlike more modern day vehicles, hese cars require regular, ngoing care/maintenance and some mechanical knowledge, patience, nd understanding can make the experience considerably more pleasant. That said, ollector / "specialty" car owners will tell you (emphatically) that they love their cars and wouldn't trade them for anything!!
