Representing a ten year effort by its former owner who owned a VW restoration and repair shop in Florida, his Type 3 began its revival in Florida, ltimatelyworking its way to Maine where I purchased it, nd completed the partial assembly ofwhat the gentleman almost completed, ut stopped due to health reasons.
Absolutely fun to drive, ery iconic, nd representing the last year of production for this chassis, t has been completely refinished in Safari yellow, ts interior completely replaced, nd many new items grace its chassis inclusive of new tires, ini light style alloy wheels, nbsp;new windshield, eatherstrips, ront brake rotors and pads, dditional pop-out side vent windows and factorytachometer (not installed, ut illustrated herein), nd much more. Additionally, original OEM roof rack was found and installed. Very rare. Yes, t will hold your Surfboard, r mother in law.
The "Squareback" as it is commonly referred to received an engine overhaul at around 60K miles accordingthe former owner, t which time he installed dual Webercarburetors in place of the factory fuel injection. The engine starts, uns an drives nicely,and its fourspeed fully synchromesh transmission shifts nicely with no issues. Currently the odometer is inoperative, owever the car was not operated over the last nine years, waiting completion. The speedometer functions normally, s do the other gauges.
Not shown, he rear seat indeed does fold down flat toaccommodate larger loads, very convenient option. Great place for your dog.....or??
Recent servicing included new plugs, il replacement (synthetic 10/40 Castrol), uel filter, ront wheel bearing replacements, oolant flush (just kidding), ir filter cleaning (the Weber's use foam) and a complete detailing with Zymol Carnauba wax.
This is a fun and delightful driver quality car which can be driven anywhere (except on water) with confidence. Rare in their numbers, hey are great cars to own, nd many owners are now modifying them with lowered suspension, hitewalls, tc, iving them that "Retro" appearance. Parts availability is fabulous and they are easy toservice and maintain.
