Description for Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon 1988
1988 vw vanagon
Wolfsburg weekender edition
314,800 ish miles and rising
Daily Driver
Table, old out bed, ear facing jump seats. 2wd, wd.
It has a 1991 Vw gti motor that makes @ 135 hp. It has 110k "unverifiable"miles on it. This is upgraded from theoriginal water boxer engine. I was told the transplant was done in 2001.
It has the rare and extremely (and frankly awesome) desirable 5speed AAP European transmission.
The transmission was just rebuilt 9/15 by German Transaxle (which is the number 1 or 2 transmission rebuilder for vanagons in America). I spent $4700.00 for the rebuild due to its rarity and desirability. It has a (non transferrable)4yr/48000 mile warranty.
It has a new battery, tarter, oil, istributer, ebuilt fuel injectors, ewer fuel lines, ebuilt rear brakes with new hoses, custom exhaust from reputable shops in CT.
It is lowered on Koni adjustable shocks, as Mercedes wheels, full set of snap on curtains, roof rack and an 8 foot awning. It has driving lights, hich aren't working but might be by next week.
These adventure vehicles are only gaining in popularity. I'm the third owner and I've driven it from 278K-315K over the last 3 years. The last owner owned it 22 years. I have some of the paperwork on this.
There is some rust on the seams, ome in the driverside dogleg, nd there is a beautiful patina on the roof and driverside where time has worn away some of the clear coat.
Its not perfect. But it is a beautiful and joyful beast.
Price lowered, inter is coming. Welcoming offers.
Selling as is, here is. That said, ts ready to go.
Happy Bidding
