Description for Volkswagen Beetle - Classic 1964
CLASSIC 1964 Volkswagen Beetle. VW Bug. This is the nicest, cleanest, most complete, best condition classic VW that I have seen in many, many years. It is a ONE OWNER vehicle, that has been loved and maintained for over 50 years. The lady who bought the car new in 1964 decided she was never going to drive this vehicle again, so now she wants it passed on to someone else who will love and appreciate it. It has the original 1200 cc engine, 4 speed transmission, and it is all in near perfect, original condition. The car had been sitting since 2007. We went through the fuel system before we cranked it up and there was no varnish or trash in the tank. We did install a new fuel filter. After we got the vehicle started we adjusted the carburetor, but other than that, it did not need any engine/mechanical work. We did have to go through the brake system. It has a new master cylinder, and all new brake cylinders. We put new shoes on the front, and the brakes are now perfect. One front wheel bearing was in need of replacement, which we also took care of. The vehicle has 5 new (period correct) tires on the vehicle. To my knowledge everything in the vehicle works, even the original AM radio. This car is a gem, and is ready to either go into your collection or to be a fun weekend driver. Odometer reads just over 24,000. No idea if that is correct. Odometer does work, but no idea if 24,000 is the actual mileage. Vehicle will have to be sold on a bill of sale as the owner could not find the title.Complete with original sales brochure, owners manual, service book 1 and service book 2, the original Arizona safety inspection card from the dealer, and the original 1964 insurance card (six-month premium = $7.00)The vehicle does have a dent/scrub on the drivers side, rear fender. I tried several times to get an accurate picture of the dent/scrub but could not get it to show up well in a photograph. You CAN see in the photo a little of how the running board is pressed in a little. I do have this vehicle listed for sale locally, so I reserve the right to withdraw this add at any time.
