Description for Volvo 1800s 1968

Up for auction is a 1968 volvo p1800s. The car is a dark green and the paint will need to be resprayed. It is a California native with original black plates and ZERO rust. The only thing close to rust is a tiny patch of surface rust on the bumper where the was a parking sticker. This car has been in two accidents to my knowledge. The first was not in my care but the second was. In the first accident there was some rear panel denting repaired with small amount of bondo, not magnetic in 2 places and volvo lettering not placed back, inside from the trunk you cannot see damage, it was repaired correctly. I actually like it better this way. It does have the hood badge and someone stole the grill badge. There is a small amount of bondo to smooth out the grill custom work as well. The cheap lazy insurance totaled the car after my accident because it was easier and cheaper for them, clear title is in my name but shows salvage rebuild. I was hit by a careless driver and i had no power over this decision. I had the car rebuilt using actual volvo 1800 body parts with a vintage jaguar (jensen)body specialist. The total out of pocket for this was $7500. I had the grill surround customized at this time. It is an eye catcher and people always comment. I had wider racing rims on the vehicle and it looked great, recommend putting them back to utilize the grill and rear custom look. Car retains original spare and complete jack. I sold wider racing rims on my toyota tacoma, yes they interchange. It is really hard to place the maker of this car because the lettering is gone on the back and the grill is custom. it looks Jag or other high end manufacturer. You cannot be shy and drive this car as people will always approach you. The condition is good not perfect but complete with a couple upgrades. I will list the good and bad as best I recall. I may not catch all flaws and you must expect some may overlooked. 125,281 miles on original engine, numbers match. I put in a new gas tank and a few months later the gauge stopped working, i assume the sending unit. the tachometer is unplugged i believe, as it isnt working either. the clock doesn't work. all lights work including map and interior lights. The headliner is very good, visers good, one inside wheel well vinyl cover has been repaired with black duck tape. The wipers don't work might be a fuse. There is a tiny oil leak from a hose that should be replaced. I removed the non working ac, there is a small mess and it is still needing a clean up under the dash, wires tubes etc. I removed the door cards as i was going to repair them and the rubber seals but didn't get to it. cards included but not repaired. All rubber seals are dry. I purchased the leather seats for better match than the bad vinyl it had. The leather driver seat back has a bolt broken inside and should be drilled out for a complete install, leather is supple but stitches are separating in places. I will include working back as well. I have had thugs try to pry the doors trunk and hood open, minor damage and as a result the passenger door often will not work from the outside. They have also done some key scratching to try and reduce the appearance and approach me to lowball the price. this is a common practice with vintage cars in LA if there can be access to the car (daily driving)and i went through it with my 122s as well. no major damage and is cosmetic they probably work in autobody. car runs decently overdrive works but switch is stiff, drives really straight on original rims and pirelli tires. running ok but needs some attention. the webber carbs are very cold blooded and i use starting fluid and it NEEDS time to warm up, runs great when it does) the carb linkage needs attention also for better acceleration. it has been my dependable daily driver many times and over many years. They exhaust needs to be addressed, original tailpipes are included but not attatched and exhaust is a little loose. Has a cassette player and amplifier but i removed speakers to upgrade and didn't get it done, the original speaker is in place, not connected. The antennae is missing i think it's down inside the fender. All my improving stopped when i was hit and the car was totalled. the last photo is of the accident damage. I have included as many photos of damage as possible. There was no frame damage, i did replace the front frame crossmember under engine to be safe and sure. this car needs some love and has been loved. I am selling as I have too many cars and am getting to old. the reserve is quite low so bid with confidence and win a great classic. please ask all questions before bidding and have permission and funding at that time. ken 323 823 3400
