Description for Willys 441 1941
THIS 1941 IS AN ALL STEEL, PROFESSIONALLY BUILT WILLYS COUPE! NO CORNERS WERE CUT IN TRYING TO CREATE ONE OF THE FINEST HOTROD WILLYS COUPES ON THE PLANET!! I am offering my extremely nice, professionally built all steel 1941 Deluxe model 441 Willys Americar in near perfect, freshly built condition. This is a REAL DEAL '41 Willys coupe. I'll do the best I can to describe the condition of the car and build. This gets wordy but I want to cover all areas. I'd like there to be no surprises. You're more than welcome to come and see it for yourself, in fact it's encouraged!! Pictures and web links will show the quality of the car but it presents itself better in person! This is extremely nice with ALL STEEL BODY built with as many original Willys parts as possible!!! I have owned this car since 1991 and have thousands of photos of the car, from the time I bought it through the build, all along the way. You can see it run (video) and Rod & Kulture magazine coverage at: Copy and paste: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfZKywxue00

They were formed at the lip exactly as the originals were. The paint is PPG Concept Single Stage Bedford Grey with Champaign gold in trunk, original Willys colors. The paint is insanely beautiful!!! Fit and finish are near perfect! All trim, grill, headlight assembly, trunk handle, window handles, rear view mirror, gas cap, tail lights, brackets, gas tank, etc..etc..etc....are ALL original Willys and beautiful. NO aftermarket parts were used in the build if I could use a Willys part! I didn't open a catalog and start ordering parts, I had ALL original parts restored/rebuilt; that is a difficult and an expensive task....and ONLY if you can find all the original Willys parts!! Over the years I bought out two of my friends Willys collections just to get the best parts I needed. I used all professional shops to do the work, it's not a garage built car, not a cheap car to build, it is a professionally built car! Again, not cheap. Doors, Trunk, and Hood open and shut beautifully as they should! The interior uses the original bench seat upholstered in traditional hot rod style. I had a Willys friend of mine produce an original floor mat. It was installed just like they did at the factory using carpeting under seat. All clear glass is date code etched, including the original wing windows. The gauge cluster is the ONLY piece of the car that has not been restored; I'll leave that to the next owner. All lights work and car has blinkers with vintage Yankee switch lever on chrome steering column. Vintage Cragar Slot/Dot steering wheel. Wipers work using original motor. Original emergency brake is functional. Custom built fuse box-glass fuses and vintage cloth style wiring!! Very old school! All of this build was to replicate a stock Willy, like it came from the factory and then I built it into a hot rod. The engine is a 1956 Chevrolet 265ci, .040" over. I've had this engine since '77. 4-71 roots blower gone through by Dyer's in Chicago, 14% under driven, 6-7 pound of boost. Weiand intake. Heads are original power pack. Crank is an original forged unit. Comp cam, 480/280. Eelco oil pan, OEM Corvette valve covers, Holley 650 double pump carb, Joe Hunt magneto, custom professionally built headers with Car Chemistry inserts-all tubes the same length, mechanical fuel pump, Be-Cool radiator, etc. Engine was built by Wheeler Racing, dyno tuned at 345hp at 6100rpm. I wanted to have something that sounded good and would run cool on a hot day. Engine runs at 180 degrees all day long on the hottest day! Transmission is a new M22W Muncie from Auto-gear. Clutch and accessories are Centerforce. Bellhousing is a vintage steel Mickey Thomson Wedge. Shifter is a vintage P&G reverse lockout. Rear is '58 Pontiac housing/'63 carrier with posi and Richman 4:10 gears. Wheels are aluminum 15x4.5 and magnesium 16x10 Halibrand. Tires are 16x11 Goodyear Blue Streak and 15x5.60 Firestone. Axles are Mark Williams, brakes are large Ford drum with emergency brake. Front dropped axle is a Chromoly tube replica of a Don Long unit with vintage 36-42 Ford spindles/ mid size GM disk brakes and calipers. Ok that should answer some of the questions if interested. I have listed pictures of the car as it is now with the Goodyear Blue Streaks. Some of the past photos are with other tires and a couple of assembly photos so you can see the chassis and build. I can only list 24 photos but with the magazine links and video of the car running you should get the idea. I have had many Willys over the years from stock originals to parts cars. This coupe was my first Willys (bought in 1991) and I took it to a level that exceeded most builds! If you're involved in Willys or have seen this car, you know the quality of this coupe compared to what's out there. In my opinion, and there are some fine Willys coupes out there, this is one of the finest examples on the planet!! The more you look at this coupe, the more you see the Willys originality and the quality of this Hot Rod build. These cars continue to hold their value year after year. This '41 coupe is not cheap but everyone knows what nice Willys sheet metal will cost to get started, 50-60 thousand for a steel body that won't need a ton of work, 25-35 for one that needs plenty of metal work. Either way that will get you started, then, you can spend some real money to get it to this level!! You could search for a lifetime to find all the original Willys parts to replicate my coupe, I did!! Or, here's one you can buy that's done. Not that it makes any difference at all but I'm sure the question will come up. I'm selling the car because I'm moving on to another project. It's that simple. I have owned this car for many years and it's time to let someone else have fun with it! I've taken it to a few local shows, out to California a couple months ago to a private event, driven it about 250 miles so far and had some real fun over the years from the time I bought it, through the build, to its completion. Now is just the time. I'm selling the car, not the memories. You are welcome to come and see the car, in fact I would encourage it and although you are also welcome to hit the buy it now, I wouldn't expect anyone to hit the "buy it now" without looking at it!! I have put a fair price on the car. You cannot build a car like this for my asking price. Call if you are truly interested but don't beat me up, don't low ball insult me....I won't give the car away but a true offer will be considered. Thank You for Looking! I HAVE TRIED TO SHOW, THROUGH THE PHOTOS AND TEXT, MOST OF THE POSITIVES AND NEGATIVES ON THE CAR. IF YOU HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A HIGH END PROFESSIONALLY BUILT WILLYS GASSER COUPE, THIS IS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME CHANCE! THIS IS THE CAR!
