Description for Chevrolet Nomad 1956
You are bidding on an RARE, arn-find, state-sale 1956 Chevy Bel-Air Nomad wagon. This Texas wagon is in good shape and would make a nice toy for someone since it's sporting a rebuilt Chevy V8 (I believe it is not original).
The Nomad has 96K miles, utomatic turbo 350 trans, nd custom Black leather interior. The body is extremely solid since it's from Texas and looks to be all original metal with great floors and frame! The car runs and drives even though it has not been driven on the roads for years.
The red repaint is in nice condition, bout a driver-quality paint job. No major dings or dents to speak of. The car runs and drives but needs some TLC from the long storage period.
This is a rare classic car with a reserve to protect some of its value. ESTATE WANTS THIS CAR TO SELL IN THIS AUCTION! If the reserve is not met we will work with the highest bidder to try to complete the sale. All Estate vehicles must sell.
The Body is very solid and straight, no major dings or dents and has a 2-tone maroon and silver paint scheme. The paint is nice and shiny, table with good depth but the paint application was not professional at all. There are numerous flaws in the paint work, ncluding runs and the painter leaning into the wet paint. It's OK as a driver but not a show car. This is a car you can totally restore to factory original without all the rust repair found in most wagons. There are some minor rust issues but nothing major. Bottom of the fenders are just starting to have a few pinholes. Tailgate hinge area has some rust. It's basically a stored survivor. The chrome and brite work pieces are pretty much all there. Chrome parts are in good-to-fair condition. All of the chrome pieces have some pitting and will need to be replaced/rechromed like the hood ornament, oor handles etc. Stainless pieces are in excellent condition, ost do not have any dings or dents, ust need polishing. They are just that nice. Glass is in good-to-fair condition. Passenger side rear curved glass is delaminating along with the vent glass. Windshield is in good shape. Weatherstripping is in good-to-fair condition.
The Black Interior has some custom touches such as the custom Diamond pleated leather bucket seats. Seats are in nice condition as is most of the interior including headliner. The chrome headliner bows are just showing minor pitting and may need polishing or rechroming. Most of the interior needs cleaning and possible replacement of some items. The carpeting is good and could use a cleaning. Most everything works on the dash but the dash lights are not working. The steering wheelis not original. The windows operate as they should. Tailgate upper hinges need adjustment since it is not closing/sealing properly.
The Drivetrain is a Chevy V8 of some kind. I believe it's either a 265, 83 or 327. I cannot read the ID stamp on the front of the motor nor can I read the casting number on the block. It appears to have been rebuilt at some point in the last 8 years. There are no receipts or info on what was done to the drivetrain or anything else other than what's listed in this ad. The engine runs strong, o noise or smoke but does need some tuning from the long storage. It will drive around fine but should be trailered and all systems gone over before putting it back on the road. The automatic transmission operates and shifts as it should. No problems in the rearend.
The Undercarriageis in good condition with no major rust issues. Floor pans and frame are original and in good condition. The exhaust system is headers with dual exhaust to the rear.
Other info: The car is in pretty much original condition. Car comes with factory keys for doors, gnition and trunk and Owner's manual.
Car needs full exterior and interior detailing!
