This one looks especially sharp when paired with the white SS stripes. giving the brutal big block Chevelle a high-performance look. but you had better forget about keeping a low profile when you're out on the road. The paint on this one is quite good. with great panel alignment. excellent gaps. and attention to detail that says it was more than just a quickie job. The SS stripes are mandatory on a car like this. and they've been blended in under the clear for a seamless look that will last forever. A cowl induction hood with hood pins gives it that aggressive look that you've always admired. while a correct SS grille. reproduction badges. and a proper insert on the rear bumper ensure it won't be mistaken for anything else. The gorgeous black bucket seat interior has been recently refreshed. including new seat covers and carpets. which make it an inviting. comfortable place to do the serious business of driving. Matching carpets and dash help keep it masculine and functional. but there's just something special about the textured inserts on the seats that make the Chevelle look upscale. There's also a center console with our favorite horseshoe shifter that matches the standard SS steering wheel. The gauges appear to be original. which strongly suggests that this is a real SS. and it carries an optional tachometer to the right of the speedometer. There's also a new digital AM/FM stereo radio in the dash that sounds great and fits in the stock slot so no cutting was required. IN the trunk you'll find correct spatter finish paint. a reproduction mat. and a proper bias-ply spare tire. The engine is a built Gen V 454 cubic inch big block doing its best impersonation of an LS6. Sure. you know it's not a real one. but it isn't priced like one. either. It does. however. offer 4-bolt mains. an Edelbrock carburetor. as well as the requisite Chevy Orange paint on the block itself. The cowl induction air cleaner is correct. and there are quite a few new items under the hood. including the alternator. power brake booster. and master cylinder. all dressed up with a splash of chrome. Long-tube headers add a few extra ponies and definitely bolster the big block's robust torque curve. and Flowmaster mufflers give it that legendary big block sound. Twist the key and it settles almost instantly into an easy idle. and throttle response is right now quick. which is why we love big blocks so much. A TH400 3-speed automatic transmission twists a 12-bolt rear with a Posi out back. 14-inch SS wheels wear a set of 225/70/14 BFGoodrich radials that are just the right size to fill the wheel wells perfectly.
