Description for Dodge Coronet 1969
1969 Dodge Super Bee Coupe Superbee
This numbers matching 1969 Super Bee was completely restored in 1999, nd has logged a total of 9,941 miles since then. It has the original 383 RB Big Block Super Commando engine which was bored .030 and fitted with forged pistons and all new internals. Professionally rebuilt by "The Mopar Dude" . The A833 manual transmission with Hurst factory floor shifter was also rebuilt. The rear was a 8.75 sure grip posi-track rear 323 ratio. It was repainted the factory B5 Blue and the interior is the same with Legendary pieces throughout. Some of the original pieces still remain within the interior like the instrument panel and some arm rest pieces. The metal is all straight as an arrow. It was a very basic 2 door post car that had full wheel covers, tandard hood, tripe delete and an AM radio. The original hood was not reconditioned but was replaced with a complete functional N96 option fresh air hood from a donor 1969 Super Bee with the red lever (see pictures) under the dash that opens up the dual air scoops. The original B5 bump hood comes with the car. It is considered to be an investment grade numbers matching engine car that can be driven anywhere dependably. All exterior lights work along with the interior lights. Parking brake light, everse light and dome light all still work. All the gauges (speedometer, il pressure, ater temperature, uel, nd alternator work, xcept the clock. There is a small dimple on the passenger rear fender that cannot even be seen unless pointed out. I(see picture). There is not a single other issue with the car inside or out.
There are no excuses to be made about any part of the car. Everything has been replaced or reconditioned and needs nothing but a new owner.
I changed out the 323 ratio 8.75 sure grip posi-track rear center section with 377 gear ratio sure grip posi-traction center section. The 323 pumpkin goes with the car.
I had the original radiator replaced with a Glen-Ray 3 row, ull core radiator. Never overheats, ven in slow moving parade traffic on hot summer day. Has date correct upper and lower radiator cover to keep integrity of numbers matching and date correct appearances. The original radiator comes with the car. The original keys come with the car, ow cool is that.
When I purchased the car in 2007 it had American Racing Aluminum slots front and back (see pictures). The front tires are BF Goodrich Radial T/A raised white lettered P225/70R14 98S M+S and the rear tires are P275/60R15 107S M+S with a spare tire that is a Goodyear. If you notice, ith the slot on the car the aluminum fender covers did not fit because rear tires are so large, eally looks awesome. All 5 tires (spare and American Racing Aluminum slots and tires come with car). Currently the car has four Red Line Goodyear polyglas tires from Coker with original steel wheels painted Blue with Dodge hubcaps with fender trim (see pictures) and a spare. The front tires are Red Line Goodyear Polyglas F70-14 and the rear tires are G70-14. Looks great with either set up. No power steering, o power brakes, o air-conditioning, ust like it was back in the 60s. It just goes really, eally fast and looks like the muscle car era.

A little about the 383 Magnum/Super Commando motor that came in the Super Bee and Road Runner.
1968 - 1971
The RB engine is a big-block V8 engine from Chrysler. It first appeared in 1959 and was a raised-deck (taller) version of the Chrysler B engine. The big-block RB lasted until 1978. All RB engines have a 3.75 in (95mm) stroke, ith the bore being the defining factor in engine size. Bore center distance is 4.84". All RBs are oversquare, ut the sheer size of the engines means that torque is not lacking. The "R" in "RB" indicates raised, s the RB has a higher deck than the B Engine.
In 1969 the Super Bee and Road Runner came with the base engine of a 383, ith heads, ntake, am, eavy duty valve springs with surge damper, nd exhaust manifolds from the 440 Super Commando; those made it the fastest 383 ever, ith 335 (gross) horsepower. A four-speed manual was standard. The B-bodies were free of glitz and chrome, ostly to reduce weight.
From 1968-1970, he 383 Magnum was rated at 335 hp, lthough Mopar fans who remember these free-revving engines would compare seat-of-the-pants pull to the 440. Sporting the same heads and cam as the 440, ut with a smaller displacement, he 383 certainly could be wound tighter.
It was no secret that a 383 was responsive to traditional hot rod mods. Some may even argue that modified 383 cars played the key role in establishing Mopars' legendary reputation for performance. The 383 B-Bodies in particular were everywhere, hile the Hemis were feared but seldom seen. The 383 cars were performance machines for the regular guy, nd were used, bused, odified, orn-up, nd sadly, ften thrown away. The 383s fought it out in the trenches, imply because they worked.
Tests by drag race king Dick Landry with both cars (Coronet 440 R/T & Super Bee 383), how about a .02 sec. difference through the quarter mile. Magazine advertisement for a 1969 Super Bee from a 1969 Hot Rod magazine.
