Description for Dodge Polara 1962

Here is a seldom granted opportunity to own one of the rarest of all 60's Dodges. Personally. I think this 4dr Polara is not only Virgil Exner's last complete work. it is his best of the 60's. Chrysler missed the market with its focus on an intermediate size for 1962 and Virgil Exner got fired. It wasn't the style that hurt this car. it was the size. This car was sold new in 1962 by Allen Motor Company in San Marcos. Texas. It was sold a second time by Allen Motor Company in 1968 when had around 50K miles on it. The second owner lived 15 miles away in New Braunfels. Texas and drove this car (or at least kept it licensed) until 1990. The car was in good shape in 2007 when it was purchased by another man in New Braunfels. who unfortunately stored the car outside for 8 years. The way the car is in the pictures is just how it is today. The body is laser straight with no dents and is wearing whats left of its original black paint. The stainless and cast moldings are 100% intact. undamaged and in excellent condition. the bumpers are mint with the exception of a small dent on the rear. the original spinner wheel covers are very nice with no curb damage. all the glass is good but the front windshield has bubbles in the lamination. The is no rust in the body other than a few minor spots and of course the well defined surface rust. the trunk and interior show little water penetration although neither the carpet or trunk lining have been removed to show rust damage. if any. The interior has a severe Texas sun burn and all needs replacing. the dash painted areas are very nice. the seat coverings. speaker grill. steering wheel. headliner. padded dash and carpet are toast. The split front bench has an armrest. The original 361 4bbl turns over with the key and the lights and blinkers work. I was told the car had a bad transmission when it was parked in 1990. But the motor ran fine when parked outside in 2007. As you can see from the original window sticker. the options are; Assist light group. Torqueflite Eight auto transmission. Power steering. power brakes. AM radio. hot water heater and defroster. variable speed windshield wipers. ront and rear bumper guards(mint shape). inside glare-proof mirror. undercoating. anti freeze and 7. 50 X 14 White side wall tires. for a total list price of S3656. 55. The body had a white accent stripe that has disappeared but refinished. this amazing Exner masterpiece could be one of the best. I am offering the car as I found it for a few days to see if you want it as is. If the car does not sell as is. I will clean it up. get it running and try again. Please call or text if you have specific questions. Thanks. Pete 214-505-5005
