Description for Ford Falcon 1965

What we have here is an automotive version of Rip Van Winkle. This 1965 Ford Falcon Sprint spent a substantial part of its life safely ensconced in a protective shelter, only to re-emerge looking just as it did long ago while the world around it continued to age. It sports a rare interior configuration and is a proven show winner, driving away with trophy hardware from the Falcon Club of America, as well as the Antique Automobile Club of America. The Falcon is more than just an appealing vintage Ford, it's a very pivotal car, as well, having started out as the pet project of eventual U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara as well as serving as the direct precursor to the ultra-popular Mustang, to whom it lent its unibody construction and suspension design. The Rangoon red paint draped over the exterior of this '65 matches its original shade and because it was so well applied and the car has been so safely sheltered, it's in great shape, as are the other elements of the exterior. The bright work looks very strong from front to back, fresh weatherstripping has been added to keep the elements out, and clear windows surround the cabin. Both its array of badging and body alignment are also on point. Due to heavy demand, Ford produced a sizable number of Falcons in the mid-'60s, but very few sport the interior configuration that this one does. Peer inside and you'll see that factory buckets sit in place of the far more common bench seat in front with a center console - a rare option in and of itself during the time - running between them. The interior features the same black shade this Falcon rolled off the line with so many years ago, and it's been brought back to quite an impressive condition. The seating in both front and back shows very little wear and the door panels to each side, as well as the carpeting below, reflect the same condition. Take your place in the driver's seat and you'll be greeted by the original, generously proportioned steering wheel, while just forward the dash has also been skillfully refurbished and houses crystal clear, fully functional gauges, with an assortment of control knobs and switches that also work just as intended. A fresh-looking dash pad runs across the top, while at the center of the dash, the original AM radio is still in place to offer its period correct audio technology. The trunk area looks showroom fresh, with a vinyl liner on its floor and a full size spare on standby. The same high standards are found under the hood, where a 289 cubic inch V8 sits between the shock towers, surrounded by neatly painted inner fenders and firewall. The power plant itself is impeccably dressed, wearing a nicely badged chrome air cleaner over its 2-barrel carb and a pair of chrome valve covers to either side of its precisely painted block. All the aesthetic details have been well looked after here - the hoses all look fresh, the wiring is neatly routed and there's no grime buildup anywhere in sight. The powerplant pairs with a period correct 3-speed automatic C4 transmission that holds a strong reputation that's reinforced by the fact that so many of them are still on the road today. Just as you would expect from looking at the rest of the car, the undercarriage presents very well - its suspension components and floorpans look very solid and its overall condition suggests this classic Ford has been treated with plenty of respect. With its unusually clean look and strong running condition, this 1965 Ford Falcon Sprint represents the chance to get behind the wheel of a meticulously restored, seldom-seen classic. Call today!
