Description for Mercedes-Benz 190-Series 1962
1962 Mercedes Benz - More information and pictures can be found on www. 190slforsale. com PLEASE BE PATIENT WHILE PICTURES LOADDetailsThis car was purchased for my wife to drive as a Sunday driver in the fall of 2007. Mileage when purchased was 86176. Current mileage is 86784. The car exterior and interior are in same condition now as it was when we purchased it. The engine and transmission have been completely rebuilt and some minor brake work was done. The car starts easily if you start it every couple weeks. If it sits for long periods of time it takes some pumping on the gas pedal or quick shot of starting fluid. I try to start it every couple months and drive it around the block but the reality is we just don’t drive the car which is why we are selling it. The car appears to be very original with many original components. The frame and body are very solid with only very minor surface rust or peeling paint on the under side. I found no signs of body filler. accidents or repairs. You’ll notice that some of the chassis photos have rust on them and that’s because I washed and degreased the underside to remove all the grease. dirt and loose paint. It’s just very light surface rust from wet metal drying. It would make a great car to restore however that is a project I’m not ready to take on at this time. The car drives perfect and straight. shifts well and goes down the road like a 1962 Mercedes should. Stops on a dime too. I’ve done my best to describe this car in as much detail as possible. I’m in no way an expert when it comes to foreign cars. I’m a Chevy car guy and have done several body off restorations on older cars. Please call or email me with any questions you have. Body- The body on this car is very straight and correct. I have not found any rust or areas that show signs of filler or repairs. The lines and gaps appear near perfect. Stainless Trim- Near Perfect. No scratches or dings. Exterior Chrome - Some very minor small dents and corrosion if you get up really close. Looks very presentable from 5-6 feet and was probably chromed at some point during exterior restoration/painting. Glass- all appears to be original. The two side windows are clear without any cracks or stone chips. Rubber gaskets on front windshield appears to be original too with some minor age showing. Very small stone chip in front windshield near top centerSoft Top- Not sure if it’s original but if I had to guess it’s not original to the car. It goes up and down very easily and fits tight to the top windshield and rear deck lid. All 3 latches work well. Hard Top- Is in great condition and fits very tight. All hardware included. Doors- Fit tight and close well. Door handles are in excellent condition along with rubber gaskets. locks function. indows roll up and down with easy like they should and fit tight. Door gaps are perfect. Paint- has been repainted at some point in it’s life but not sure when. Hub Caps and Trim Rings- Near perfect . maybe 1 or 2 very minor dings but very shinny and no scrapes or scratches. Gas Cap- has the Mercedes emblem on it with a locking gas gap. None of the keys I have work the gas cap however the gas cap appears to fit very tight and goes on/off with ease. Engine/Transmission- Both have been completely rebuilt from the ground up and have only 600 miles. SSC Champion and foreign car expert Michael Galati performed all the work at his own personal shop in North Olmsted Ohio. No expenses were spared in this complete engine rebuild top to bottom. Here is a link to Galiti's Auto. http://www. galatisauto. com/galatisauto. com/Racing. htmlhttp://www. galatisauto. com/galatisauto. com/Welcome. htmlRear End- appears to be original based on the numbers. There has been some work by Galati to replace the rubber boot. Exhaust- new exhaust was installed when the motor was redone back in 2007/2008. Gas Tank- No leaks and gauge works. Radiator- appears to be original and has no leaks. Front/Rear Suspension - Both have been gone over and appear to be in very good condition. See pictures for more details. Brakes- All 4 have been gone over and the necessary components have been repaired or replaced. There appears to be no leaks with any of the wheel cylinders. Trunk Interior- Appears solid like the underside with no rust. See pictures. Dash- I believe the original color of the interior was red. The inside of the glove compartment shows a red dash pad however it appears that someone over time dyed the dash a light blue. Instruments and chrome appear to be all original with some light pitting and showing age. Seats- No tears but minor wear and use. I’m not sure if they are original but they don’t appear to be dyed. Belts appear to be replacement but not exactly sure. Interior - Overall the interior of this car is in good shape. The steering wheel has some minor hairline cracks and discoloration but no cracks with gaps or chips. Carpet- Carpet is in good shape and shows some age. I would guess that it’s pretty old and the padding appears to be original. Battery- is new replacement battery with quick disconnect. FREE DELIVERY WITHIN 6 HOUR DRIVE OF ZIPCODE 44095. IF IT'S A LONGER DISTANCE WE CAN DISCUSS.
