Truly Breathtaking 1962 Mercedes-Benz 190SL Convertible
New to our Pleasanton showroom is this highly impressive 1962 Mercedes-Benz 190SL 2 Door Convertible with burgundy exterior paint and a cream leather interior. You’ll find a factory 1.9L four cylinder engine under the hood along with... a matching 4-speed manual transmission, both of which have been completely rebuilt within the last 1,000 miles. This desirable classic is in outstanding overall condition as well and it is ready to be enjoyed immediately by a new owner.
Enjoyed & Maintained by Current Owner Since 1971
The current owner has enjoyed this 1962 Mercedes-Benz 190SL Roadster since 1971 as the 2nd lifetime owner. It’s a highly original example with what the owner tells us is the numbers-matching drivetrain in place plus many of the factory accessories and trim pieces. It is in exceptional condition throughout with show-quality paint, exceptional body lines and a gorgeous factory interior.
The 1962 Mercedes-Benz 190SL is highly sought after by collectors due to being a hybrid of the sporty 300SL roadster and the 180C sedan. Its excellent performance and handling comes from its independent rear suspension and peppy four cylinder engine with dual Solex carburetors. This particular example is largely a survivor that has only seen minor levels of restoration throughout the years, it has been repainted once in its lifetime with some other minor refreshing, but otherwise this amazing roadster has remained unmolested.
Only 1,000 Miles on Fully Restored Factory Drivetrain
As we previously mentioned earlier, this 1962 Mercedes-Benz 190SL Convertible had the entire drivetrain rebuilt within the last 1,000 miles including the factory motor and transmission. It performs out on the open road like a brand new classic vehicle with nice acceleration and a very smooth ride quality. It needs nothing to be enjoyed in a prestigious collection right away- the attention to detail is outstanding throughout.
Likewise, the body of this 1962 Mercedes-Benz 190SL borders on immaculate with excellent body lines and unblemished trim. The exterior paint and convertible top are also in excellent shape as is the well-kept factory interior with factory wood-grain inserts and the correct instrument panels. The seating shows only the slightest signs of wear and nothing to detract from the overall prestige of this desirable classic. It’s simply a beautiful vehicle.
An Incredible Find at a Sensational Price
Overall, this 1962 Mercedes-Benz 190SL 2 Door Convertible is one of the most impressive examples we’ve seen in years and it needs nothing to be driven or enjoyed right away. Due to the extensive restoration costs of these classics, this beautiful roadster is a true steal at the current asking price and it’s going to make one lucky collector fall in love with it.
