Description for Mercedes-Benz 190-Series 1962

Presenting this stunning, rotisserie nut and bolt restored Mercedes-Benz 190 SL (Super-Leicht) W-121.

Laser-sharp lines. Doors shut with the right thunk. Excellent fit and finish from top to bottom.

Well-tuned Solex carbs, Palo Alto instrument work and a very expensive battery replica (custom built I'm told) await the next owner. New Diamondback whitewall radials are being added for a smoother ride. The current barely-used bias-ply tires will be included in the sale.

Originally black with a red interior, the switch to period-correct Mercedes Blue Code 335 with Parchment interior was a very wise choice. Everyone who sees the car comments on the color.Everyone. There's something really special about this blue. I'm not particularly fond of blue cars, but this one - wow.

A 190SL judge took a look at her recently. Helovedit. He felt the switch to this color was a real plus, it's so beautiful and less common than other combinations. Some of you might make this a trailer queen and have her judged. Others would be happy driving her to car shows or for a smart cocktail at your favorite watering hole.

The judge did note some deviations - some appear deliberate, Others a mistake? For instance, the visors. Should be leather. They're the smoked glass and chrome style. They look much better in my opinion. The rubber mats aren't there. And, the rubber seals between the bumper pieces aren't supposed to be black. The previous owner added a passenger's side rear view mirror during restoration for looks, I guess. Dealer option maybe at the time? Not sure on that one. Of other note - we cheated a little on the engine - there's a new electronic distributor and new fuel pump that really help her run beautifully. I've got the old parts if you want to go back to stock.

Sharing the basic styling and engineering of its big sister, the 300SL Gullwing, you get 80% of the thrill for about 10% of the cost.

This is a gorgeous car. Tough to find one like this; particularly in New England. If you're a New Englander in the market for a 190SL you're normally stuck with flying out west or buying one sight unseen. Come take a trip to sunny New Hampshire and check her out.

The pictures tell the story. Only 385 miles since restoration.

Inspections welcomed and encouraged.

This car will not disappoint.

Thanks for looking!
