Description for Pontiac Tempest 1962
Up for sale is my First Generation 1962 Pontiac Tempest LeMans Coupe. This is a great example of a true survivor classic! It has very low original miles (just under 39,500 miles)
This model car is a very unique and collectible car as it has a front mounted engine, ear mounted Trans-axle, ndependent rear suspension and a manual 3 speed transmission.
The color combination is fantastic; it is black on red interior with a white headliner. The body is all original and very straight, ery well kept over the years. The bucket seats are also original and do not have one tear in any of the seat covers. The paint of course is a little cracked and faded from age, ut has great original patina.
The power comes from the front mounted Pontiac straight 4cyl engine (195 cubic inch) which is a modified Pontiac 389 engine with just one bank of cylinder heads. Out of the three available power combination offered for this model, his car has the highly sought after Trophy 4 high compression (10.25) 4 barrel carburetor option that was able to produce and estimated 155 HP and 215 Lbs. of torque.
I have all the original paperwork, ervice manuals and even period correct literature for this vehicle that I have collected over the years from shows and online. The original jack and spare tire are in the truck and even the newspaper that the jack was wrapped in to keep it from rattling was from 1962!
All in all, very great car to just keep as is and drive to shows to display as a survivor or to use as a daily driver to beat those high gas prices. (Also, f the prospective buyer is from Texas, have a very nice set of black 1962 License plates that I will include for your registration).
Now for the bad, he car has been sitting for almost 4 years in my garage, ue to a leaking wheel cylinder the brakes are not working, will try and bleed the brakes this weekend to get back the functionality, ut at some point the new owner will have to have the brake cylinders rebuilt to be safe.
Also, drove the car into the garage 4 years ago, ut as of right now it will not start, robably something very simple as bad plugs or carb needs cleaning, ut just thought I would disclose this just in case I cannot get the car started before the end of the auction.
As in all survivor classics, ge does take a toll, o please ask all questions before you bid, will do my best to answer them. The vehicle is located in Princeton, X 75407, $500 NON-Refundable PAYPAL deposit is due at the end of the auction and the remainder due in cash, r cashier's check at the time of pickup. Buyer will be responsible for pickup.
Thanks for your interest and happy bidding...
