Description for Volkswagen Beetle - Classic 1979
There are some vintage VWs that you want to collect, and some you want to drive. Then there are the few like this 1979 Volkswagen Beetle convertible that's correctly documented and retains all the right features, so it makes you want to do both.
When it comes to owning a convertible Bug, 1979 was the final year of a legend and the best of a breed. And this is a shining example of a factory-correct presentation. It starts with the Diamond Silver Metallic paint. You can check against the included window sticker that this was a pricey option about $700 in today's money. This shining silver looks great in the sunshine, and even when it's time to button up, the black roof looks terrific against the silver. And more than just look great, you love a late-model Bug because it has the reputation of quality that came from decades of knowing how to build these droptops with precision and strength.
Beneath the roof is a crisp black interior, so the terrific silver on black presentation is seen no matter if top is on or off. And just like the exterior, it's clean, complete, and quite correct. The high-back bucket seats that came on the later models are particularly comfortable for all-day cruising. Volkswagen treated these last few Beetle convertibles as premium machine, so you got plenty of features, including the wood appearance package on the dash. And today it's all still so nicely preserved that even the clock still works. You'll grab the Wolfsburg steering wheel, the stick shift is in the perfect VW placement, and even the correct single VDO gauge pod is still in place. In fact, the only upgrade over the factory options you'll spot is the AM/FM/cassette stereo and larger speakers after all you need the best tunes in a droptop.
Power comes from the VW's sturdy 1600cc flat four, but fuel injection was an interesting late addition to the Beetle. So those who like to have a little distinction in their classic motoring will enjoy this, especially since there was a small fortune spent on restoring this motor (and we have the receipts to prove it.) It's linked to the sturdy and versatile four-speed manual transmission, which allows you to get the most out of the motor. As many VW fans already know, this is a Super Beetle. That means an improved steering box, bigger brakes, and a new MacPherson independent front suspension. There has even been the addition of front disc brakes. So for those who want to drive their classics, this is one of the nicest ways to experience a vintage VW.
The sale comes complete with the original warranty card, owner's manual, and window sticker. This is the last year for the legendary Beetle in the USA, and this is the perfect cruiser with all the docs to properly celebrate the end of an era. So if you're a VW fan, don't miss out on this opportunity. Call today!!!
